<strong>DOON</strong> <strong>UNIVERSITY</strong>, <strong>DEHRADUN</strong><br />

via SMDSs and MoMSs etc is perhaps unique in entire country. Centre for<br />

Public Policy via its IMI Programme has innovatively helped establish a<br />

dynamic development dialogue forum for India which now continuously<br />

engages a range of stake-holders, domain experts, practitioners and academics<br />

in generating ideas, documents and development products which are being<br />

freely used by various stake holders, including mountain state governments, in<br />

their day to day practices. Refer the Publications of Centre and those out of its<br />

outreach activities.<br />

new knowledge, basic or applied.<br />

The Vision of the Centre namely, “ ... engaging Universities and Colleges<br />

more intensively than before with wider society and contribute to the local and<br />

regional development and provide intellectual leadership to the society ”, is<br />

arguably a unique experiment in any University in the country, where a Centre<br />

has worked on such a Vision and generated a vast body of new knowledge<br />

(refer, Publications) both basic, and mostly of applied nature, where it<br />

supports and enables forward action in shaping and moulding of public<br />

policies focused on sustainable mountain development. In an evolutionary<br />

manner the 17 Sustainable Development Goals themes are now been taken on<br />

board, aligning the charter of the Centre on themes emerging out of Rio+20<br />

World Summit.<br />

Strengths<br />

1. Action Research based outcomes, summarised under IMI Programme (<br />

The Vision, diagram)<br />

2. Large body of knowledge generated by its literature, directly and in<br />

collaboration,<br />

3. A large net-work of individuals and institutions established under IMI<br />

Programme,<br />

4. ORG Data Centre and Doon University Hub, Centre for Public Policy &<br />

Good Governance, and<br />

5. Centres linkages with local State Government , other state Governments,<br />

other Universities and related bodies dealing with public policies, both at<br />

the National and State levels.<br />

Weaknesses<br />

1. Experienced Human Resource at the Centre, newly established ORG<br />

Data Centre and Doon University Hub, Centre for Public Policy & Good<br />

Governance,<br />
