(Note: As per the DPR of the university the School has four departments under<br />

its purview. Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department<br />

of Chemistry and Department of Computer Science.)<br />

July 2015<br />

3. Is the Department part of a School/Faculty of the university?<br />

Yes, Department of Mathematics is a part of School of Physical Sciences,<br />

Doon University<br />

(Note: However, as per the mandate of the University, all the departments and<br />

schools ought to foster interdisciplinary learning and research. Therefore,<br />

although the Department of Mathematics is operationally governed as a part of<br />

School of Physical Sciences, in the academic front, it supports and takes<br />

support from other departments, School of Environment and Natural Resource<br />

Management, School of Languages and School of Communication.)<br />

4. Names of programmes offered (UG, PG, M.Phil., Ph.D., Integrated<br />

Masters; Integrated Ph.D., D.Sc., D.Litt., etc.)<br />

The School currently offers three programmes as below.<br />

a) M.Sc. Mathematics -Two Years (Intake Capacity-20): Eligibility for<br />

Admission –through University Entrance after a Bachelor’s Degree from any<br />

recognized University<br />

b) M.Sc. Mathematics -Five Years Integrated (Intake Capacity-60):<br />

Eligibility for Admission –through University Entrance after a 10+2 Degree<br />

from any recognized Board<br />

5. Interdisciplinary programmes and departments involved`<br />

All the programme are truly run by Mathematics Department.<br />

6. Courses in collaboration with other universities, industries, foreign<br />

institutions, etc.<br />

We currently do not run any course in collaboration with other universities and<br />

institutions. But we are proactively looking for such opportunities.<br />

7. Details of programmes discontinued, if any, with reasons:<br />

No prograamme was discontinued so far.<br />

(Note: As per the advice of the Vice Chancellor, efforts were taken to modify<br />

all credit structure as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as proposed<br />

by the UGC and to modify some courses in the nature of core courses as per<br />

model syllabus of UGC. The Department of Mathematics has adopted the<br />

course structure and credit distribution systems as proposed by CBCS. The<br />
