1 MA Economics Classroom Teaching, student seminars,<br />

Assignments involving participation of students<br />

in different activities related to field visits,<br />

elective and specialized courses, interactions<br />

with larger society and so on<br />

2 MSc Economics In addition to above, all quantitative courses<br />

have a practical component involving analysis<br />

of data through selected statistical packages<br />

3 MPhil Economics In addition to above, assignments involving<br />

preparation of literature surveys and<br />

participation in conferences and seminars for<br />

presenting papers and involvement in research<br />

projects as interns.<br />

46. How does the department ensure that programme objectives are<br />

constantly met and learning outcomes are monitored?<br />

Monitoring Mechanism: Ensured through IQAC<br />

Student Faculty Committees: Each batch of students in every course has<br />

representatives for SFC and all these SFC members regularly meet with<br />

faculty members to review the activities of the Department<br />

Faculty Advisories: Each student is assigned with an advisor/mentor who<br />

help them shaping their career as well as to solve the problems faced by the<br />

students.<br />

47. Highlight the participation of students and faculty in extension<br />

activities.<br />

Students are encouraged and usually engaged in different extension activities<br />

being undertaken by the department. These activities include participation in<br />

different competitions being held in university and outside, organising<br />

extended classes, tutorials and remedial courses for newcomers, field visits for<br />

better social interactions, participation in activities of local trade unions and<br />

organisations of debates and discussions on different policy issues of global,<br />

national and regional interests. A Photo profile of some of the past activities<br />

that witnessed increased participation of students is provided in Annexure.<br />

48. Give details of “beyond syllabus scholarly activities” of the<br />

department.<br />

Participation of students in different workshops/ seminars organised by the<br />

department and individual faculty member in different forms. Students are<br />

usually given responsibility for management of these events and activities<br />
