Environmental Economics: As per the mandate of the Supreme Court, all<br />

academic disciplines need to run courses in environmental studies. So, the<br />

faculty members of SENR run this course for the Dept of Economics.<br />

Discrimination Studies: In order to teach courses like Discrimination<br />

Economics and Gender Economics, experts from outside are often sought.<br />

Management: In order to run courses like business forecasting, financial<br />

economics and business economics, faculty members from School of<br />

Management are involved.<br />

Foreign Languages: Given the value addition with knowledge of foreign<br />

languages, students often take courses in foreign languages either in the<br />

School of Languages or the faculty members from SOL is invited to take<br />

lectures in the School of Social Sciences.<br />

Some efforts are in pipeline to introduce interdisciplinary programmes such as<br />

Actuarial Economics, Social Work etc, to be jointly run by several schools and<br />

departments.<br />

6. Courses in collaboration with other universities, industries, foreign<br />

institutions, etc.<br />

We currently do not run any course in collaboration with other universities and<br />

institutions. But we are proactively looking for such opportunities.<br />

Moreover, our faculty members are engaged as co-supervisors in guiding PhD<br />

and research scholars from other universities as well. (Please refer to Section<br />

39 for more details)<br />

No programmes hav e been discontinued so far.<br />

8. Examination System: Annual/Semester/Trimester/Choice Based Credit<br />

System<br />

(Note: The Department of Economics has adapted the course structure and<br />

credit distribution systems according to model CBCS (choice based credit<br />

systems) as proposed by UGC. However, the specialization courses have their<br />

own syllabus as per the mandate of the Academic Advisory Board and the<br />

Academic Council.)<br />

9. Participation of the department in the courses offered by other<br />

departments<br />

Students can opt for courses from other department as zero credit courses.<br />

Faculties of the departments are occasionally involved in teaching specific<br />

courses run by other Departments. A list of such courses and the operating<br />

Department are as below.<br />
