6.5.6 Does the IQAC have external members on its committees? If so,<br />

mention any significant contribution made by such members.<br />

Yes. IQAC have external members in its set up. The University seeks help of<br />

these members very often, not just through meetings and provide valuable<br />

suggestions related to teaching, research and building the requisite learning<br />

environment.<br />

6.5.7 Has the IQAC conducted any study on the incremental academic<br />

growth of students from disadvantaged sections of society?<br />

The academic growth of the students including from disadvantaged sections is<br />

monitored by the respective faculty/department/school and necessary<br />

interventions are introduced to address any gaps, such as providing tutorial<br />

classes, remedial classes, individual guidance and mentoring on a demand<br />

driven basis. The student advisors also take into consideration, at times, the<br />

personal problems of the students as and when they arise.<br />

A Social Empowerment Cell/Equal Opportunity Cell has been set up to help<br />

the students from the disadvantaged sections of the society-particularly SC,<br />

ST, OBC, Physically Challenged and even economically poor background by<br />

organizing remedial classes, special classes on communicative English,<br />

Mathematics etc. Informal feedback is obtained from the students in this<br />

regard. IQAC proposes to carry out such studies with the help of experts/<br />

research scholars.<br />

6.5.8 What policies are in place for the periodic review of administrative<br />

and academic departments, subject areas, research centers, etc.?<br />

Following measures have been put in place for the periodic review:<br />

The periodic review of the Schools and Departments is carried out on a half<br />

yearly basis-semester wise in the meeting of the HoDs by the Vice Chancellor.<br />

The performance as well as specific issues related to the<br />

Schools/Departments/Subject areas including research are also reviewed and<br />

considered by the Academic Council of the University in its meetings. The<br />

Academic Council meets periodically in a year. These reviews cover areas<br />
