conferences. Similarly, the personality development and soft skill development<br />

of students is not confined to classroom studies but a constant push in all the<br />

activities of the students to face the world is ensured.<br />

2.3.10. Is there a provision for the services of counsellors / mentors/<br />

advisors for each class or group of students for academic, personal and<br />

psycho-social guidance? If yes, give details of the process and the number<br />

of students who have benefitted.<br />

There is a system of Mentor-Mentee, in which every faculty member is<br />

Mentor/ Student advisor to a small group of students. The students are free to<br />

contact and take help from their advisor /mentor regarding their study related<br />

problems or any other personal problem. In order to help students with<br />

personal and psychological problems, a teacher (Dr. Ashish Sinha) having<br />

requisite knowledge/ training has been assigned the job as counselor by the<br />

University. Apart from this Hostel wardens also interact with students to<br />

know their problems in their respective hostels. Ph.D. students are also<br />

encouraged to interact and extend support to fresh students at the time of the<br />

admission process.<br />

2.3.11. Were any innovative teaching approaches/methods/practices<br />

adopted/put to use by the faculty during the last four years? If yes, did<br />

they improve learning? What were the methods used to evaluate the<br />

impact of such practices? What are the efforts made by the institution in<br />

giving the faculty due recognition for innovation in teaching?<br />

School of communication and School of design have introduced the complete<br />

exercise based examination and jury based evaluation system for some<br />

courses.<br />

2.3.12. How does the university create a culture of instilling and nurturing<br />

creativity and scientific temper among the learners?<br />

To create a culture of instilling and nurturing creativity and scientific temper<br />

among the learners, a number of activities listed below are organized:<br />

● Organizing various activities under the aegis of several clubs/ cells<br />

such as debates on current topics as-well-as organising / celebrating<br />

days i.e Ozone days, Earth day, Environment day, Himalayan day,<br />

science quiz, exhibition, etc.<br />

● Annual Cultural Festival (Covering debates, Sports, Painting, etc)<br />

annual sport events , plantation drive, cleanliness drive and vehicle free<br />

day<br />

● Participation in extension activities in villages, radio talk, etc.<br />

● Some Departments have weekly research seminar on scientific topics<br />
