The Type ll (or V) curve indicates a good balaince between the vegetative<br />

growth <strong>and</strong> the reproductive grmvtli, the 'l'_\'pe I curve shows an excessive vegetative.<br />

growth. <strong>and</strong> the Type III curve indicates a weak vegetative growth relative<br />

to the reproductive growth. The 'l'_vpe A growth pattern is smooth succession<br />

<strong>of</strong> the vegetative phase to the reproductive phase; in the B pattern these two<br />

phases overlap. <strong>and</strong> in the C pattern there is a lag between them.<br />

Va<strong>ri</strong>eties. seasons. <strong>and</strong> cultural practices should be selected to realize the Type<br />

A pattern with a lft-‘pe II curve. When environmental conditions are favorable,<br />

one should attempt to achieve the ‘llvpe V curve.
