Technology Centre Systems Program – <strong>Draft</strong> DPR for New TC at Rohtak<br />

► All pipes will be painted in red colour as per the standards.<br />

► The hydrant and sprinkler system will be connected to piping network and will be continuously<br />

charged with water at appropriate pressure as per applicable standards.<br />

► All equipment and items used in firefighting system will conform to relevant codes of<br />

practice, standards, rules and regulations applicable.<br />

► Fire water tank of minimum 2000 Cum capacity/ one hour supply will be provided.<br />

► The tank will be placed overhead/ above ground so that the pumps operate in negative<br />

suction and with required level of water even when they are off.<br />

c) Pump room<br />

► The pumping station will be located near the fire water tank to store adequate volume of<br />

water for firefighting as per rules and regulations set by local fire authority and guidelines by<br />

NBC.<br />

► Both the sprinkler system and hydrant system will be fed with common electrically driven<br />

pump, backed with a diesel engine driven pump of adequate capacity to maintain required<br />

pressure in the pipe line.<br />

► Electrically driven jockey pump of adequate capacity will be provided in the pumping station,<br />

which will be positioned and programmed in such a way that jokey pump starts first in case<br />

there is any loss of pressure in the fire pipe line.<br />

► The pumps will be automatically operated and control panels with required switchgear, logic<br />

will be provided to control the pumps.<br />

► Necessary arrangements for power supply will be done for the fire pumps.<br />

► The power and control cables used for fire pumps will be fire rated and conforming to relevant<br />

applicable standards.<br />

► The pumps will be placed on adequate foundations/ pedestals with adequate support to the<br />

piping.<br />

► The pump room will be covered with canopy roof in steel structure and pre-coated sheets.<br />

► All electrical fittings and accessories in pump room will be of weatherproof category IP55.<br />

d) Sprinkler system<br />

► The sprinkler pendants/ heads provided will be of appropriate category as per the hazard<br />

category and water required to extinguish fire. This will be governed by appropriate design<br />

standards and regulations of local fire authority.<br />

► At least one test sprinkler will be provided in each area for periodic testing of the system.<br />

► The density of sprinklers will be as per applicable regulations.<br />
