PAKISTAN I monitored the Pushto and Dari Language services of Radio
Pakistan on 30-01-2010 on 6235 kHz. The Pushto broadcast was monitored
from 1300 to 1400 UT. The signal was poor, SIO rating was 333. Modulation
was bad. The programme content was below average as usual. Except a five
minute news bulletin and three minute news commentary, rest of the
transmission consisted of Pushto Music and Quran recitation. Dari service
commenced at 1430 UT on the same frequency with a weaker signal. It
directly commenced with Quran recitation without opening announcement. SIO
rating was 242. The transmitter was very buzzy; at 1455 UT the signal
faded away.
Both frequencies were again monitored on 31-1-2010 but no signal of Radio
Pakistan was noted from 1300-1500 UT. Nowadays Pakistan is facing
electricity shortage; there might be some long power failure or some
frequency changes to accommodate new transmissions of Tamil, Sinhala and
Nepali languages.
Monitoring report of Radio Pakistan Frequency Changes w.e.f. 1.2.2010.
[c.f. BC-DX TopNews #950]
Radio Pakistan Bangla service was monitored from 0900 UT Feb 5th at
9375 kHz which was followed by Nepali Service at 1000 UTC on the same
frequency. SIO rating was 232.
No activity was noted on 7475 kHz, the other frequency announced for both
services. Hindi service was monitored from 1105 UT at 9375 kHz which was
followed by Gujrati service at 1145 UT. Pushto service was monitored from
1345 UT at 6235 kHz which was followed by Dari at 1445 UT on the same
frequency.
The transmitter for all these services was API-3 100 kW with loud buzz.
The programme content was poor as usual. No signal was noted on these
frequencies on Febr 6 and 7th. Sinhala and Tamil services were not heard
in my region on all these three days.
(Aslam Javaid-PAK, dxld Feb 9)
Hello Aslam, Thanks for forwarding the monitoring report. Frequency 7475
kHz is not used any more, and has been replaced with 11570 kHz in // with
9375 kHz. Sinhala and Tamil 1230-1330 UT are using 11525 and 15630 kHz.
What is causing the interference on 9375 in your SIO rating?
There have been reports that 4835 kHz is also being used for Pushto and
Dari at the new times of 1345-1445 and 1445-1545 UT. Do you hear it?
