I contacted ex-official of AIR Leh Aug 07 who was in touch with the<br />

station yesterday:<br />

- Fortunately, no casualties among AIR staff.<br />

- Rain water and mud slushes entered inside the transmitter hall causing<br />

damage.<br />

- There is no power supply in that area.<br />

- Doordarshan is carrying extensive footage of AIR Leh.<br />

- He indicated no damage to the AIR towers however one press report says<br />

Doordarshan tower has been damaged.<br />

Excerpt from todays Hindustan Times, report titled "Leh turns ghost town":<br />

Just few meters ahead of the bus stand is the All India Radio building.<br />

Water has gushed through, sweeping furniture and equipment helter skelter,<br />

and a dish on top the building is contorted beyond recognition - from the<br />

Answering my own question, Srinagar is on extended schedule for Ramzan<br />

(Ramadan) as in dxld. (Glenn)<br />

As usual Radio Kashmir, Srinagar was noted today morning (11 Aug UTC /<br />

12 Aug IST) with the special broadcast for Ramzan as follows in<br />

Kashmiri(?) consisting of tuning signal, sign on announcemnets, Koran<br />

chanting, prayers, songs, talks and advertisments.<br />

4950 kHz 2215-2256 UT (3.45 am to 4.26 am IST) 444<br />

parellel to MW 1116 kHz which was very faint with co channel interference.<br />

These special broadcasts will continue for one month till Ramzan festival<br />

around 10th Sept, 2010. However timings will vary slightly from day to<br />
