GUINEA Rep. 4900.00 I got recently some more info about this station.
The SW transmitter is located some 400 km inland from the capital,
Conakry. They stream the audio from Conakry online to Canada and from
there up to satellite and the audio is picked up at the transmitter site.
SW is scheduled 1800-2400 UT but if solar/wind power lacks, they may sign
off earlier. Plans are to add more wind generators and extend broadcast
hours 1800-0300 UT.
GUYANA In regards to Guyana's transmitting site, I remember it was
located outside of the town of Demerara. We had to cross the river on a
large pontoon bridge. Then travel // to Canal #5 for a bit. The site has
two antenna systems, a vertical 1/4 wave for 560 kHz, and the horizontal
array for H.F. The array for H.F. is easy to spot because the support
towers are tilted outwards at a 45 degree angle. I mention this because I
have received a few E-mails from people in Guyana who want to confirm they
are seeing the site when they drive by ???
A visit to All India Radio Headquarter’s, New Delhi. (summary) By T. R.
Rajeesh
All India Radio (AIR) is one of the world’s largest radio networks still
going strong on shortwave. Currently All India Radio has 54 shortwave
transmitters, 149 MW transmitters and 172 FM transmitters. All India Radio
broadcasts in 11 Indian and 16 foreign languages.
I had an opportunity to visit the All India Radio Headquarters on 28th
April 2010. My good friend and famous Dxer based in New Delhi Alokesh
Gupta arranged this visit. We also had a great DX friend with us-the
Chairman of Danish SW Clubs International Anker Petersen for visiting the
station. We also visited All India Radio High Power Transmitting Station
at Khampur, Delhi, which is one of the largest Antennae Fields of AIR
located in 255 hectares in the swamp outskirts of Delhi.
