As you can see in the previous example, the hello time, max age, <strong>and</strong> forward delay have<br />

been adjusted based on the STP diameter keyword.<br />

MST Configuration<br />

The examples in this section demonstrate the same configuration as the previous section<br />

using MST instead of Rapid-PVST. The configuration steps are similar; however, you see<br />

the additional steps of creating an instance, defining a revision number, <strong>and</strong> associating<br />

VLANs with an instance. These steps are required to define which VLANs share the same<br />

spanning tree topology within MST.<br />

Example 2-30 demonstrates basic MST configuration.<br />

Prior to exiting from MST configuration mode, it is recommended to review the changes<br />
