With both a flow and an exporter defined, the last step is to define a flow monitor, which
then is applied to interfaces to begin matching and exporting flows. Example 7-48 defines a
flow monitor and applies it to interface Ethernet 1/9.
Example 7-48. Definition and Application of a Flow Monitor
The Nexus 7000 supports the collection of NetFlow at Layer 2 in addition to the rich set of
attributes that can be collected at Layer 3. With the NetFlow modular configuration,
enabling Layer 2 NetFlow is a matter of defining a flow record to match on Layer 2
attributes. Example 7-49 defines a Layer 2 NetFlow flow record.
Note
Layer 2 NetFlow cannot be applied to Layer 3 interfaces such as routed ports and
VLAN interfaces.
