Nexus 1000V Installation Management Center<br />

Nexus 1000V software release 4.2.1.SV1.5.1a introduces a st<strong>and</strong>alone Management Center<br />

application to reduce the installation <strong>and</strong> configuration time. The Nexus 1000V installation<br />

management center provides initial configuration for the following operations:<br />

• Creating the SVS connection between the VSM <strong>and</strong> vCenter<br />

• Creating VMware port groups for Control, Packet, <strong>and</strong> Management<br />

• Creating the Control, Packet, <strong>and</strong> Management VLANs including Layer 2 or Layer 3<br />

control between the VEM <strong>and</strong> the VSM<br />

• Instaling HA pair of VSMs<br />

• Enabling SSH <strong>and</strong> configuring the SSH connection<br />

• Enabling the option to Telnet on the VSM<br />

• Creating a Cisco Nexus 1000V plug-in <strong>and</strong> registering it on the vCenter server<br />

• Migrating the h<strong>os</strong>t <strong>and</strong> network interfaces to the Cisco VEM<br />

• VEM installation<br />

• Installing VEM<br />

During the Nexus 1000V OVF/OVA deployment, select Nexus 1000V Installer; all other<br />

steps are the same as described in the manual installation process.<br />

Figure 9-12 shows how to launch the Nexus1000V-launchPad.jar file that was extracted<br />

from the Nexus1000v.4.2.1.SV1.5.2.zip downloaded from www.<strong>cisco</strong>.com;<br />

Nexus1000v.4.2.1.SV1.5.2.zip\Nexus1000v.4.2.1.SV1.5.2\VSM\Installer_App/<br />

Nexus1000V-launchPad.jar to start the application.<br />

After the application download completes, the Nexus 1000V Management Center<br />

Application window appears <strong>and</strong> prompts for three options:<br />

• VSM (Virtual Supervisor Module) Installation<br />

• VEM (Virtual Ethernet Module) Installation<br />

• VC (VMWare Virtual Center) Installation<br />

Select VSM Installation, as shown in Figure 9-13.
