lower-priority device becomes the standby. The default VRRP priority is 100.
In addition, when a priority is configured, it is typical to configure a preempt command to
ensure that the active router is consistent after a network change. In Example 3-113, a
priority of 200 is configured in addition to a preempt.
Caution
Preempt in VRRP does not support a delay mechanism similar to HSRP and also is
enabled by default.

Verifying VRRP Configuration
A quick method to use to see the current state of the VRRP configuration is to use the show
vrrp command, as demonstrated in Example 3-114. The output displays all the parameters
configured in Example 3-113, such as priority, preempt, and IP address.
