The F2/F2e module is 12 groups of four. The ports will be in sequence (1–4, 5–8, <strong>and</strong> so<br />

on). The F2 module will operate only in a VDC or chassis with other F2 modules. So you<br />

could have a chassis comp<strong>os</strong>ed of only F2 modules in the default VDC <strong>and</strong> not need the<br />

advanced license, or you could have F2 modules in their own VDC in a chassis with other<br />

M1/M2 or F1 modules in their own VDC. The F2/F2e module will provide for 550 Gbps of<br />

Fabric b<strong>and</strong>width with the Fabric-2 modules, <strong>and</strong> provide line-rate L2/L3 performance.<br />

Figure 1-14 shows the N7K-M206FQ-23L – M2-Series I/O modules 6-port 40-G Module<br />

L2/L3 QSFP.<br />

The M2 modules can operate in a VDC or a chassis with M1/F1.<br />

Depending on the hardware modules installed in the Nexus 7000 chassis, the interface<br />

allocation can vary. The following sections provide the details for each hardware module<br />

<strong>and</strong> port-allocation VDC allocation.
