The volume of an ERSPAN session can be significant depending on the amount of traffic in
the network and the configuration of the session. In many cases, the most useful information
is the int header of the packet or frame, not necessarily in the payload. To facilitate a
reduction in the volume of data sent, you can specify only a certain number of bytes be sent
out the session. This is referred to as MTU truncation. Example 7-26 illustrates MTU
truncation for ERSPAN.
