"0 Abu Dardaa! Your house has burnt down!" "It could not have burnt," Hadhrat<br />

Abu Dardaa ~ , - said. Ano<strong>the</strong>r person <strong>the</strong>n came with <strong>the</strong> same news and<br />

again Hadhrat Abu Dardaa wS adamantly said, "It could not have burnt."<br />

Eventually a third person came to him saying, "0 Abu Dardaa! A fire raged<br />

(through your street) but went <strong>of</strong>f as soon as it reached your house." Hadhrat Abu<br />

Dardaa S%%!2j said, "I knew that Allaah would never do that (never allow my<br />

house to burn down)." "0 Abu Dardaa !$%@!kj!" <strong>the</strong> people said, "We do not know<br />

which <strong>of</strong> your words are more astonishing; whe<strong>the</strong>r it is 'It cou!d not have burnt'<br />

or 'I knew that Allaah would never do that1."<br />

Hadhrat Abu Dardaa $fi%@@j <strong>the</strong>n explained, ""That is because <strong>of</strong> some words that<br />

I heard from Rasulullaah @I%. Whoever recites <strong>the</strong>m in <strong>the</strong> morning will not<br />

suffer any calamity until <strong>the</strong> evening. (<strong>The</strong> words are:)<br />

"0 Allaah! You are my Rabb. <strong>The</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but You.<br />

In You do I place my trust and You are <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Glorious Throne.<br />

Whatever Allaah wills shall happen and what He does not will can never<br />

happen. <strong>The</strong>re is no power or might but with <strong>the</strong> High and Majestic<br />

Allaah. I know that Allaah has power over all th.inng and that He has<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> all things. 0 Allaah! I seek Your protection from <strong>the</strong> evil<br />

within me and from <strong>the</strong> evil <strong>of</strong> every creature over which You have<br />

control. Indeed my Rabb is (<strong>the</strong> One Who guides people) on <strong>the</strong> straight<br />

path."<br />

Statements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @3EWj that have Been<br />

Quoted Previously Concerning Conviction in <strong>the</strong><br />

Words <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah<br />

In <strong>the</strong> chapter <strong>of</strong> ~a'wah('), <strong>the</strong> words <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Adi 4-4 have been quoted<br />

who said, "I swear by <strong>the</strong> Being in whose control is my life, <strong>the</strong> third prophesy<br />

shall also come true because Rasulullaah said it."<br />

Also quoted(3) were <strong>the</strong> words Hadhrat Hishaam bin A] Ass 4m33 and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> mWj who said to Jabala bin Ayham, "By Allaah! We shall soon be<br />

taking from you this place where you sit and we shall also be taking <strong>the</strong> kingdom<br />

<strong>of</strong> your high emperor (Heraclius), Inshaa Allaah! Our prophet Muhammad @@<br />
