incorporates all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m?" Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n told <strong>the</strong>m to recite:<br />

"We ask You for every good that Your Nabi Muhammad @& asked You<br />

for and we seek Your protection from everything that Your Nabi<br />

Muhammad @& sought Your protection from. It is only from You that<br />

help can be sought and only You can conclude all matters because<br />

<strong>the</strong>re is no power or might but from ~llaah"(')<br />

Asking for Allaah's Protection<br />

Factors from which Rasulullaah @&% used to Ask<br />

for Allaah's Protection<br />

Hadhrat Anas 4- reports that Rasulullaah used to make Cu'aa saying:<br />

"0 Allaah! I seek Your protection from helplessness, laziness,<br />

cowardice, extreme old age and miserliness. I also seek Your protection<br />

from punishment in <strong>the</strong> grave and from <strong>the</strong> tribulations <strong>of</strong> life and<br />

death"<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration adds <strong>the</strong> words:<br />

"...(and I seek Your protection from) <strong>the</strong> burden <strong>of</strong> debts and from <strong>the</strong><br />

tyranny <strong>of</strong> men"(2)<br />

Hadhrat Aa'isha l2BUW reports that Rasulullaah @@$ used to include <strong>the</strong><br />

following words in his du'aa:<br />

"0 Allaah! 1 seek Your protection from <strong>the</strong> evil <strong>of</strong> what I do and from<br />

<strong>the</strong> evil <strong>of</strong> what I do not do"(3)<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Umar k?3Gw narrates that amongst <strong>the</strong> du'aas that<br />

Rasulullaah made was:<br />

"0 Allaah! I seek Your protection from losing Your bounties, from a<br />

reverse in well-being. from sudden calamities and from all forms <strong>of</strong><br />

(1) Tirmidhi (Vo1.2 Pg.190). Bukhaari has reported a similar narration In his Adab (Pg.99).<br />
