''What about two-thirds?" "As much as you please, but it will be better if you<br />

devoted more time," Rasulullaah rn repeated. Hadhrat Ubay BGw finally<br />

safd, "I shall <strong>the</strong>n devote all my time." "In that case," Rasulullaah E%'@ said,<br />

"All your womes will be taken care <strong>of</strong> and you will be forgiven." (')<br />

Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf @E@@G and His Statement<br />

Concerning Durood<br />

Hadhrat Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf %l13m says, "Four or five <strong>of</strong> us would remain<br />

with Rasulullaah @%$ day and night so that we could be <strong>of</strong> assistance to him<br />

when he needed us. It was at a time when Rasulullaah k?&% had left his room<br />

that I came to him. I followed him as he entered an orchard belonging to one <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> leaders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ansaar. Rasulullaah @@ <strong>the</strong>n started performing salaah and<br />

remained so long in Sajdah that I started weeping at <strong>the</strong> thought <strong>of</strong> his soul<br />

. having left him. Rasulullaah &%! <strong>the</strong>n raised his head and called for me. 'What is<br />

<strong>the</strong> matter?' Rasulullaah asked. '0 Rasulullaah @@!I I submitted, 'You<br />

remained so long in Sajdah that I started saying to myself, 'Allaah has taken <strong>the</strong><br />

soul <strong>of</strong> His Rasool @$% and I shall never see him ever again.' Rasulullaah 6?@<br />

<strong>the</strong>n said, 'I prostrated out <strong>of</strong> gratitude for what Allaah has granted me for my<br />

Ummah. Whoever sends salutations to me once, Allaah will record <strong>the</strong> reward<br />

<strong>of</strong> ten good deeds to his account and remove ten sins from his record." (2)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r similar narration states that Rasulullaah &%! said, "Jibra'eel @ has<br />

just come to me saying, 'Should I not convey to you <strong>the</strong> good news that Allaah<br />

says, Whoever sends salutations to you, I shall send salutations to him and<br />

whoever sends greetings <strong>of</strong> peace for you, I shall send greetings <strong>of</strong> peace for<br />

him."' Rasulullaah also said, "It was out <strong>of</strong> gratitude for this that I<br />

prostrated." (3)<br />

Virtue <strong>of</strong> sending<br />

salutations to him<br />

Hadhrat Abu Talha Ansaari ?&Us reports that Rasulullaah @@ was in an<br />

extremely good mood one morning and his happiness could actually be seen on<br />

his face. "0 Rasulullaah m!" <strong>The</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> said, 'You seem to be in<br />

(1) Ahmad, Ibn Munee, Rooyaani, Haakim, Bayhaqi, Sa'eed bin Mansoor and Abd bin Humayd, as<br />

quoted in ffinzul Ummaal (Vol. 1 Pg.215). Tirmidhi and Tabraani have reported a similar narration,<br />

as quoted in Targheeb wat Tarheeb (Vo1.3 Pg.161). Abu Nu'aym has also reported a similar<br />

narration, as quoted in ffinzul Urnrnaal (Vol. 1 Pg.2 15).<br />
