Hadhrat Umar ?&3=, "why do we have to submit?" Hadhrat Abu Bakr ~G,?3<br />

said to him, "0 person! He is certainly <strong>the</strong> Rasool <strong>of</strong> Allaah. He cannot disobey<br />

Allaah and Allaah is his Helper." Hadhrat Umar k- asked, "Did Rasulullaah<br />

, t2$@ not tell us that we shall arrive at <strong>the</strong> Kabah and perform Tawaaf around it?"<br />

Hadhrat Abu Bakr WWG replied, "He did indeed, but did he tell you that it<br />

would be this year?" "No," said Hadhrat Umar ?3S32i%. "<strong>The</strong>n you shall certainly<br />

arrive <strong>the</strong>re and perform Tawaaf around it," Hadhrat Abu Bakr ?&3- assured<br />

him. After narrating this incident, Hadhrat Umar $B!3&G says that he later carried<br />

out numerous good<br />

deeds to make amends for this behaviour.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Happiness <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @%! when<br />

Revelation About Forgiveness and Victory Arrived<br />

as <strong>the</strong>y were Returning from Hudaybiyyah<br />

Hadhrat Anas narrates that as Rasulullaah @% was returning from<br />

Hudaybiyyah, Allaah !evealed <strong>the</strong> verse:<br />

So that Allaah may forgive you (0 RasufufIaah w) for your past<br />

shortcomings and those that may occur in <strong>the</strong> future. {Surah Fatah, verse 2 )<br />

Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n said, "Such a verse was revealed to me tonight that I love<br />

more than everything on earth." When Rasulullaah @% recited <strong>the</strong> verse to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> i%Ww, <strong>the</strong>y said, "Congratulations to you, .O Nabi <strong>of</strong> Allaah m.<br />

Allaah has made it clear how He will be treating you, but what about us?" It was<br />

<strong>the</strong>n that <strong>the</strong> following verse was revealed:<br />

So that Allaah may admit <strong>the</strong> Mu'mineen men and women into-~annaat<br />

beneath which rivers flow. <strong>The</strong>y will live <strong>the</strong>re forever and He shall<br />

(&so) pardbn <strong>the</strong>m for <strong>the</strong>ir sins. This is <strong>the</strong> great success in Allaah's<br />

sight. {Surah Fatah, verse 5)(')<br />

Hadhrat Anas WZ&3 reports that after Rasulullaah had been prevented<br />

from performing Umrah, he was returning from Hudaybiyyah when <strong>the</strong> following<br />

verse was revealed:<br />

(\bile 6 ~ ~ )<br />

Indeed, We have granted you (0 ~asuluffaah w) a clear victory(2).<br />

{Surah Fatah, verse 1)<br />

When Rasulullaah @@ and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> slaughtered <strong>the</strong>ir sacrificial<br />

animals at Hudaybiyyah, <strong>the</strong>y were filled with grief and sorrow. Rasulullaah &%$<br />

(1) Ahmad. Bukhaari and Muslim have reported a similar narration, as quoted in Tafseer<strong>of</strong> Ibn<br />

Ka<strong>the</strong>er (Vo1.4 Pg. 183).<br />

(2) Allaah granted <strong>the</strong> victory through <strong>the</strong> Treaty <strong>of</strong> Hudaybiyyah because afte; this treaty large<br />

numbers <strong>of</strong> people accepted Islaam and it led to <strong>the</strong> conquest <strong>of</strong> Makkah.
