Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Hadhrat Usayd ~,GWj said, "When I turned, I saw<br />

something like lanterns suspended between <strong>the</strong> sky and <strong>the</strong> ground. I said, '0<br />

Rasulullaah w! (After seeing that) 1 was unable to recite any fur<strong>the</strong>r.'<br />

Rasulullaah @%% explained, 'Those were angels who had descended to listen to<br />

you recite <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan. Had you continued, you would have seen some amazing<br />

things.'' ('1<br />

Yet ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Rasulullaah @# said, "Those were<br />

angels who had come close when <strong>the</strong>y heard your voice. Had you continued<br />

reciting, <strong>the</strong>y would have been visible to everyone and would not have hidden<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves from view." (3)<br />

Angels Ba<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> Body <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Martyred Hadhrat<br />

Hadhrat Mahmood bin Labeed reports that Hadhrat Handhala bin Abu Aamir<br />

W= who belonged to <strong>the</strong> Banu Amr bin Auf tribe met Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan bin<br />

Harb Ww in combat during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud. When Hadhrat Handhala<br />

4-j had gained <strong>the</strong> upper hand, a person named Shaddaad bin Aswad who<br />

was referred to as Ibn Sha'oob saw this and struck Hadhrat Handhala ~,L%Wj a<br />

fatal blow. Referring to Hadhrat Handhala ~ ,w, Rasulullaah @@ said to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> M,W, "<strong>The</strong> angels are bathing your companion. Ask his family what<br />

had happened." When <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> i4iYSw asked his wife about it, she replied,<br />

"He left as soon as he heard <strong>the</strong> call (to battle when <strong>the</strong> Muslims were being<br />

defeated) while he still needed to take a bath." (When he heard this)<br />

Rasulullaah @%$ said, "That was why <strong>the</strong> angels ba<strong>the</strong>d him." (4)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Angels ba<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> Body <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Sa'd bin<br />

Hadhrat Mahmood bin Labeed also reports that when Hadhrat Sa'd bin Mu'aadh<br />

&=was struck (by an arrow) in his radial artery during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Khandaq,<br />

he fell seriously ill. He was <strong>the</strong>n pl.aced in <strong>the</strong> care <strong>of</strong> a lady called Rufaydah. <strong>The</strong><br />

narration <strong>the</strong>n continues to <strong>the</strong> point where it states that when Rasulullaah @%<br />

heard about Hadhrat Sa'd death, he rushed to <strong>the</strong> scene with <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> i4iYGw. Rasulullaah @@ walked so fast that <strong>the</strong> straps <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong><br />

$Bm's shoes started to break and <strong>the</strong>ir shawls fell <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong>ir shoulders. "0<br />

Maghaazi, as has Sarraaj, as quoted in Isaabah (Vol.1 Pg.361). Haakim (Vo1.3 Pg.204) has reported<br />

a similar narration from reliable sources.
