blessings in food. <strong>The</strong> narration states that (when called for <strong>the</strong> boulder)<br />

Rasulullaah rn said, "Let me be <strong>the</strong> first to strike it." Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n<br />

recited "Bismillaah" and struck <strong>the</strong> boulder, causing a third <strong>of</strong> it to be crushed.<br />

He <strong>the</strong>n exclaimed, "Allaahu Akbar! <strong>The</strong> palaces <strong>of</strong> Rome, by <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Kabah!" Rasulullaah @% <strong>the</strong>n struck <strong>the</strong> boulder a secopd time and ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

portion was crushed. This time, he cried out, "Allaahu Akbar! <strong>The</strong> palaces <strong>of</strong><br />

Persia, by <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kabah!" It was <strong>the</strong>n that <strong>the</strong> Munaafiqeen jibed, "We<br />

are busy digging a trench to save our lives and he is promising us <strong>the</strong> palaces <strong>of</strong><br />

Rome and Persia?!" ('1<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid %$Gm Drinks Poison and <strong>the</strong><br />

Statement <strong>of</strong> a Christian about <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> &3Gw<br />

Also coming shortly in <strong>the</strong> chapter discussing <strong>the</strong> unseen assistance from Allaah<br />

is <strong>the</strong> incident <strong>of</strong> poison having no effect on Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed<br />

'- and his statement that no soul can die until its time is up:" Also to appear<br />

are <strong>the</strong> words <strong>of</strong> (<strong>the</strong> Christian) Arnr who said, "0 assembly <strong>of</strong> Arabs! I swear by<br />

Allaah that you will always have sovereignty over any region you want as long as<br />

<strong>the</strong>re is a single member <strong>of</strong> this generation (<strong>of</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> i!BW) with you."<br />

Addressing <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Heera, he also said, "To this day, I have never seen<br />

anything as viable as this."<br />

Statements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> MBw Attesting that<br />

Large Numbers Does not Bring Assistance<br />

Soon to appear in <strong>the</strong> chapter discussing <strong>the</strong> sources <strong>of</strong> assistance is <strong>the</strong><br />

statement <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Thaabit bin Aqram who said, "0 Abu Hurayrah! Do<br />

you perhaps see a large concentration <strong>of</strong> forces?" "0 yes," replied Hadhrat Abu<br />

Hurayrah !B13W. Hadhrat Thaabit %lW& <strong>the</strong>n said, "You did not witness <strong>the</strong><br />

Battle <strong>of</strong> Badr with us for (<strong>the</strong>n you would have seen that) it was not large<br />

numbers that assisted us."<br />

<strong>The</strong>re it will also be narrated that when someone remarked, "<strong>The</strong> Romans are so<br />

many while <strong>the</strong> Muslims so few!" Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed responded<br />

by saying, "<strong>The</strong> Romans are so few while <strong>the</strong> Muslims so many! Armies are<br />

increased only by Allaah's assistance and reduced only by Allaah withdrawing<br />

His assistance, and not by <strong>the</strong>ir numbers. By Allaah! I wish that (my horse)<br />

Ashqar was well and that <strong>the</strong> enemy was doubled in number."<br />

Also to appear <strong>the</strong>re is <strong>the</strong> letter Hadhrat Abu Bakr !BMM wrote to Hadhrat Arnr<br />

bin Al Aas W3W in which he said, 'You letter has just reached me detailing <strong>the</strong><br />

massive build-up <strong>of</strong> Roman forces. Verily it was nei<strong>the</strong>r with large numbers nor<br />

with large armies that Allaah assisted us during <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> His Nabi w. When<br />

we were with Rasulullaah @%!, we sometimes fought battles with only two<br />

horses and at times we even had to take turns riding our camels. When we<br />
