'When Salmaan 4- was on his deathbed, he called for me to his upper story<br />

room that had four doors. He said, '0 Buqayrah! Open all <strong>the</strong> doors because I<br />

shall have a few visitors today and I know not from which <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se doors <strong>the</strong>y<br />

will enter. He <strong>the</strong>n asked for some musk and said, 'Dilute it in small container.'<br />

When I did this, he said, 'Sprinkle it all around my bed and <strong>the</strong>n go and wait<br />

downstairs. When you come to look soon, you shall see something on my bed.' (I<br />

did as he bid and) When I came to see, I saw him lying on his bed with his soul<br />

having already departed. He appeared as if he was sleeping."<br />

Hadhrat Sha'bi reports that when Hadhrat Salmaan 3,w was on his deathbed,<br />

he called for his wife and said, "Bring me <strong>the</strong> bag I asked you to keep away."<br />

When she brought <strong>the</strong> bag <strong>of</strong> musk, he asked for a cup <strong>of</strong> water. He <strong>the</strong>n put<br />

some musk into <strong>the</strong> water and dissolved it by hand. <strong>The</strong>reafter, he said, "Sprinkle<br />

this around me because such creations <strong>of</strong> Allaah (angels) are coming to me<br />

who can smell fragrances but do not eat food. You may <strong>the</strong>n lock <strong>the</strong> doors<br />

behind you and go downstairs." His wife did as he bade and sat for only a short<br />

while when she heard a faint sound. When she went upstairs, Hadhrat Salmaan<br />

?&,Wj had already passed away.<br />

A brief narration from Hadhrat Ataa bin Saa'ib states that Hadhrat Salmaan<br />

said, "Because tonight some angels will be coming to me who can smell<br />

fragrances but do not eat food." (2)<br />

Some more narrations will soon be quoted in <strong>the</strong> chapter discussing Allaah's<br />

unseen help in <strong>the</strong> form <strong>of</strong> assistance from <strong>the</strong> angels.<br />

Imaan (Belief') in Predestination<br />

Rasulullaah m 's Words to Hadhrat Aa'isha<br />

WGm at <strong>the</strong> Funeral <strong>of</strong> a Child from <strong>the</strong> Ansaar<br />

Hadhrat Aa'isha reports that when Rasulullaah @%@ was called to <strong>the</strong><br />

funeral <strong>of</strong> a child from <strong>the</strong> nsaar, she remarked, "0 Rasulullaah @@$! Glad<br />

tiding for him! a sparrow from Y amongst <strong>the</strong> sparrows <strong>of</strong> Jannah! Nei<strong>the</strong>r did he<br />

do any evil, nor did he reach <strong>the</strong> age to do any." Rasulullaah &%% said, "It-.is not<br />

like that, 0 Aa'isha! Verily Allaah has created Jannah and created some people<br />

whom He has destined shall be its inhabitants even while <strong>the</strong>y are in <strong>the</strong> backs <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>rs. Similarly, Allaah has created Jahannam and created some people<br />

whom He has destined shall be its inhabitants even while <strong>the</strong>y are in <strong>the</strong> backs <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>rs." (3)<br />

Hadhrat Ubaadah bin Saamit %G= enjoins his<br />

Son to believe in <strong>the</strong> Predestination <strong>of</strong><br />

Good and Evil<br />

Hadhrat Waleed bin Ubaadah narrates. "I once went to see (mv fa<strong>the</strong>r) Ubaadah<br />
