"I seek protection in <strong>the</strong> complete and perfect attributes <strong>of</strong> Allaah from<br />

His wrath, His punishment and from <strong>the</strong> evil <strong>of</strong> His servants. I also seek<br />

His protection from <strong>the</strong> whispering <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Shayaateen and from <strong>the</strong>m<br />

approaching me"<br />

Hadhrat Aa'isha G%Gw relates fur<strong>the</strong>r that it was not even a few nights later that<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid WEw came back to Rasulullaah @& saying, "May my parents<br />

be sacrificed for you, 0 Rasulullaah w! I swear by <strong>the</strong> Being Who has sent you<br />

with <strong>the</strong> truth that when I thrice completed <strong>the</strong> words you taught me, Allaah<br />

dispelled <strong>the</strong> condition I was suffering from. I now do not even fear entering a<br />

lion's den at night." ('1<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr ?&GWj mentioned that <strong>the</strong> above du'aa should be<br />

recited whenever a dream scares a person. He <strong>the</strong>refore used to teach <strong>the</strong> du'aa<br />

to those children <strong>of</strong> his who were <strong>of</strong> an understanding age. As for those who had<br />

not yet reached <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> understanding, he would write <strong>the</strong> du'aa down on a<br />

piece <strong>of</strong> paper and tie it around <strong>the</strong>ir necks. (2)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed ?&GWj <strong>of</strong>ten woke up<br />

frightened from his sleep. When he mentioned this to Rasulullaah @&,<br />

Rasulullaah advised him thatfas soon as he awoke, he should recite<br />

(Bismillaah), followed by <strong>the</strong> du'aa, quoted above. (3)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that when Hadhrat Waleed bin Waleed ?&Gw told<br />

Rasulullaah @$& that he <strong>of</strong>ten felt fearful, Rasulullaah @@ advised him to recite<br />

<strong>the</strong> above du'aa when he retired to bed. (4)<br />

Du'aas for Distress, Worries and Anxiety<br />

Rasulullaah Teaches <strong>the</strong> Du'aa to be Recited<br />

when Experiencing Difficulty<br />

Hadhrat Ali Ww says, "Rasulullaah<br />

du'aa whenever I faced any difficulty:<br />

instructed me to recite <strong>the</strong> following<br />

"<strong>The</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but Allaah <strong>the</strong> Most Forbearing and<br />

Most ~agnanimous. Glorified and Blessed is Allaah <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Glorious throne. All praise belongs to Allaah <strong>the</strong> Rabb <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

universe"(5)<br />
