on <strong>the</strong> pulpit Concerning predestination<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas'ood W'= reports that very <strong>of</strong>ten when delivering a<br />

sermon on <strong>the</strong> pulpit, Hadhrat Umar wS would recite <strong>the</strong> following couplets<br />

(which mean):<br />

'Go easy on yourself because <strong>the</strong> destinies <strong>of</strong> a// matters are in Nlaah's hand<br />

Those that He has thwarted can never come to you just as those that He has<br />

commanded can never be thwarted1(')<br />

Imaan (Belief) in <strong>the</strong> Signs <strong>of</strong> Qiyaamah<br />

<strong>The</strong> Words <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah When Allaah<br />

Revealed <strong>the</strong> verse "When <strong>the</strong> trumpet is blown"<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Abbaas W%s narrates that when <strong>the</strong> verse:<br />

When <strong>the</strong> trumpet is blown (to signal <strong>the</strong> arriva/ <strong>of</strong> Q~yaamah). .. {Surah<br />

Muddathir, verse 8)<br />

was revealed, Rasulullaah k%%% said, "How can I live in luxury when <strong>the</strong> blower <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> horn already has <strong>the</strong> horn in his mouth and is waiting with his forehead<br />

bowed for <strong>the</strong> command to blow." <strong>The</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @,w <strong>the</strong>n asked, "What du'aa<br />

should we make?" Rasulullaah @# <strong>the</strong>n told <strong>the</strong>m to recite:<br />

"Allaah is Sufficient for us and He is <strong>the</strong> Best <strong>of</strong> Guardians. In Allaah do<br />

we trust." (2)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that when <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> ~,G= heard this from<br />

Rasulullaah @?@, <strong>the</strong>y were troubled and asked, "0 Rasulullaah @%! What<br />

should we do." Rasulullaah @% <strong>the</strong>n told <strong>the</strong>m to recite:<br />

"&$, 25 ~, p&,<br />

"Allaah is Sufficient for us and He is <strong>the</strong> Best <strong>of</strong> Guardians." (3)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Fear <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Sauda Yamaaniyyah @EW<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Appearance <strong>of</strong> Daaaal<br />

<strong>The</strong> narration has already passed in <strong>the</strong> chapter discussing <strong>the</strong> relationships <strong>of</strong><br />

in which Hadhrat Hafsah said to Hadhrat Sauda Yamaaniyyah<br />
