Hadhrat Anas bin Maalik ?i$%%?&j Shortens his Steps<br />

when Walking to <strong>the</strong> Masjid<br />

Hadhrat Thaabit ~ P w says, "I was once walking with Hadhrat Anas bin Maalik<br />

SGi& in Zaawiyah (a district <strong>of</strong> Basrah) when he heard <strong>the</strong> Adhaan. He <strong>the</strong>n<br />

started to shorten his steps until he entered <strong>the</strong> Masjid. '0 Thaabit!' he asked, 'Do<br />

you know why I have walked with you in this manner?' 'Allaah and His Rasool<br />

@%% know best,' I replied. He said, 'So that my steps in <strong>the</strong> effort <strong>of</strong> salaah are<br />

increased."'(')<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas'ood ?BFkG%j<br />

Hurries for Salaah<br />

Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas'ood WP%+ once left home for tkle blssiid. When he<br />

started to hurry, someone asked, "Why are you doing chis whe - ;mu prevent<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs from it?" Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas'ood WW24 replied, "I wash r9 attain<br />

<strong>the</strong> frontier <strong>of</strong> salaah, which is <strong>the</strong> first Takbeer. "(2)<br />

Hadhrat Salamah bin Kuhayl narrates that when someone objected to Hadhrat<br />

Abdullaah bin Mas'ood %GWj hurrying for salaah, he replied, "Of <strong>the</strong> things that<br />

you hurry towards, is salaah not <strong>the</strong> most deserving <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m all?" (3)<br />

Rasulullaah<br />

Prohibits Running for Salaah<br />

Hadhrat Abu Qataadah narrates that as <strong>the</strong>y were once performing salaah behind<br />

Rasulullaah m, he heard some clamouring from <strong>the</strong> people at <strong>the</strong> back. After<br />

completing <strong>the</strong> salaah, Rasulullaah @&% asked what <strong>the</strong> matter was. When <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> @,G= informed him that it was <strong>the</strong>m running for <strong>the</strong> salaah.<br />

Rasulullaah @% said, "Do not do that. You should (not hurry and <strong>the</strong>n) perform<br />

<strong>the</strong> Rakaahs you manage to join and complete afterwards <strong>the</strong> ones you could not<br />

join." (41<br />

Hadhrat Anas 4-j narrates that <strong>the</strong>y were once in a Masjid with Rasulullaah<br />

when a Bedouin stood in <strong>the</strong> Masjid and started urinating <strong>the</strong>re. "Stop!<br />

Stop!" <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @GW shouted. Rasulullaah however said to <strong>the</strong>m, "Do<br />

not stop him from urinating. Leave him alone!" <strong>The</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @!3W <strong>the</strong>n<br />

allowed him to finish urinating. Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n called him and said,<br />
