Note: Many of these rst declension nouns are abstract, referring to concepts or<br />

intangible things (e.g., righteousness, peace, life, glory, truth). In <strong>Greek</strong>, these<br />

nouns often appear with the article, though the article is not typically translated<br />

into English. [For example, can simply be translated as “truth.”] On<br />

occasion, however, the <strong>Greek</strong> article can be considered “live,” since the writer could<br />

be intending to make reference…not simply to the abstract notion of “truth” in<br />

general…but to that particular body of truth comprising, say, the Christian gospel. If<br />

the context so leads us, we may translate as “the truth.”<br />
