The architect is particularly drawn to House in the
Dust because of its location, which includes a large
factory, a vast open field used to dry harvested
corn, an old house, and a view of Indian Pines with
mountains in the distance. Everything was envisioned
in the form of a residence with 360-degree
access to its surroundings. Due to the location’s
openness, some modifications were made to the
functions of the house to better suit actual usage.
And since there is no defined front or back of the
house, the functional program is separated into
three primary sections: the service area (parking
space and kitchen), the common area (formal room,
living room), and the living area (bedrooms), with
the three axes connecting and separating the three
zones at the same time. 9
With the owner’s desire for the house to have concrete covering
the entire outer surface, accomplishing such a vision necessitates
a contactor with true comprehension, attentiveness, and
talents to materialize the design’s distinctive details, lines, and
silhouettes, particularly the curved elements.
