มล. วรุตม์ วรวรรณ เล่าถึงความเชื่อของ VVA ในการใช้<br />
วัสดุท้องถิ่นและภูมิปัญญาการก่อสร้างในอดีตเป็นพื้นฐาน<br />
ในการพัฒนาสถาปัตยกรรมสู่อนาคตถูกถ่ายทอดผ่าน<br />
โครงการที่เลือกมานำาเสนอ ศูนย์เรียนรู้ศาสตร์พอเพียง<br />
พรรณนา เขาใหญ่ (Pannar Sufficiency Economy &<br />
Agriculture Learning Center) ทดลองการนำาแนวคิดศาสตร์<br />
พอเพียงมาใช้ก่อสร้างอาคารในชนบท และสร้างสรรค์<br />
สถาปัตยกรรมที่กลมกลืนกับบริบทและยุคสมัยปัจจุบันผ่าน<br />
ฝีมือช่างท้องถิ่นและวัสดุในพื้นที่ โดยไม่ยึดติดกับรูปแบบ<br />
สถาปัตยกรรมแบบประเพณีที่พบทั่วไป อาคารหลักของ<br />
โครงการใช้ประโยชน์วัสดุท้องถิ่น เช่น ดินสำาหรับฉาบผิว<br />
อาคาร และไม้ไผ่สำาหรับมุงหลังคา ส่วนอาคารห้องน้ำา<br />
เปลี่ยนปัญหาที่พบทั่วไปให้เป็นอาคารที่น่าสนใจด้วยการ<br />
ออกแบบรูปทรงอาคารที่โค้งไร้มุมอับและการก่อเรียงผนังอิฐ<br />
ที่เอื้อต่อการระบายอากาศ และสอดคล้องกับระดับความ<br />

ส่วนร่วมในการเลือกสีสันที่แสดงบุคลิกเฉพาะตัวให้กับ<br />
หน้าบ้านของตน นอกจากนี้รายละเอียดการออกแบบสะท้อน<br />
ความต้องการเฉพาะของผู้ใช้แต่ละกลุ่ม เช่น การกั้นห้อง<br />
เพื่อป้องปัญหาการคุกคามทางเพศ และการรองรับต่อเติม<br />
ในอนาคตสำาหรับบ้านเล็กที่มีผู้อยู่อาศัยจำานวนมาก<br />

‘Change and Continuity’<br />
อภิชาติ ศรีโรจนภิญโญ และชนาสิต ชลศึกษ์ เลือกนำาเสนอ<br />
สองโครงการของ stu/D/O เพื่อแสดงแนวคิดและทิศทาง<br />
ในการทำางานที่ใช้การสร้างสรรค์สถาปัตยกรรมเพื่อแก้<br />
ปัญหาที่ตั้งโครงการและโปรแกรม โครงการแรกคือ Naiipa<br />
ซึ่งมีที่ตั้งอยู่ใจกลางกรุงเทพมหานครในย่านพระโขนง<br />
สถาปนิกต้องการรักษาเก็บรักษาต้นไม้ใหญ่ที่แผ่กิ่งก้าน<br />
เป็นจุดเด่นของที่ตั้งโครงการและบรรยากาศธรรมชาติไว้<br />
และเปิดการเข้าถึงให้สาธารณะได้เข้ามาใช้ประโยชน์ การ<br />

‘The Possibilities of Transformation’<br />
Through the selected architectural projects, M.L.<br />
Varudh Varavarn discussed the VVA’s belief in the<br />
utilization of local materials and inherited building construction<br />
know-how from the past as the foundation for<br />
the studio’s future architectural trajectory. With the<br />
Pannar Sufficiency Economics & Agriculture Learning<br />
Center, VVA experimented with adapting the sufficiency<br />
philosophy to building construction in rural areas of<br />
Thailand. The studio developed the architecture by<br />
using the skills and knowledge of local builders and<br />
locally sourced materials but breaking away stylistically<br />
from the conventions of traditional Thai architecture.<br />
The primary structure of the project makes intelligent<br />
use of local resources, such as the earth cladding<br />
exterior finish and bamboo used for the roof. With its<br />
curved structure that lacks closed corners and brick<br />
arrangement of walls that allow for natural ventilation<br />
while still giving the required level of privacy, the design<br />
of the restroom facility transformed what would<br />
ordinarily be regarded as drawbacks into interesting<br />
features. The collaboration between the architect and<br />
local builders for Pannar Sufficiency Economy &<br />
Agriculture Learning Center initiated a collaborative<br />
learning experience and demonstrated that architecture<br />
is a living, evolving entity that can grow alongside<br />
new developments and technologies to best meet the<br />
ever-changing needs of humans.<br />
The low-cost housing project is for the people in<br />
Klong Toey community of Bangkok funded by the Royal<br />
Thai Army. The site’s restricted space and poor accessibility<br />
were the causes of the project’s challenging<br />
logistics and construction. Such limitation led to the<br />
development of a simplistic design that could be<br />
adapted to the unique physical constraints of each plot<br />
of land on which a house was constructed, resulting<br />
in a variety of sizes and forms of the houses. The<br />
process involved the homeowners’ participation by<br />
asking them to choose the color that would be painted<br />
on the front of their houses, while the design of each<br />
house reflects its users’ specific needs, such as proper<br />
room partitioning that protects inhabitants from sexual<br />
harassment and the structural and spatial components<br />
of smaller houses with multiple inhabitants that allow<br />
for future expansions.<br />

chose both of stu/D/O’s projects to exemplify the<br />
office’s conceptual approach and design approach,<br />
in which architecture serves as a means of solving<br />

different site- and program-specific issues. The first<br />
project, Naiipa, located in Bangkok’s Phra Kanong<br />
district, demonstrates the architecture team’s endeavor<br />
to conserve the enormous trees growing and their<br />
branching canopies within the site, making them the<br />
project’s focal point and an integral component of<br />
the space that is open to public access. Prior to incorporating<br />
the built structures into the remaining free<br />
spaces, the design process commenced with a survey<br />
of the positions of the existing trees. It explains how<br />
the forms of the trees determine the shapes and heights<br />
of the buildings. The fronts of the buildings are meant<br />
to interact with the light and shadow cast under tree<br />
canopies, showing a connection to the surrounding<br />
urban environment and aiding in the ventilation and<br />
sun protection of interior spaces. The built structure<br />
was intended to reconnect people with nature while<br />
also preserving the spirit of the site.<br />
