แนวทางการทำางานสถาปัตยกรรมของ Sher Maker Studio
เชื่อมโยงกับชีวิตอย่างแยกออกจากกันไม่ได้ พัชรดา อินแปลง
กล่าวถึงที่มาของตน และหุ้นส่วน คุณธงชัย จันทร์สมัคร
จากบริบทของสังคมชนบทธรรมดา จึงมีแนวคิดของวิถีชีวิต
การอยู่อาศัยที่เรียบง่ายด้วยทรัพยากรเท่าที่มี การปฏิบัติ
วิชาชีพของ Sher Maker ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จึง
ประกอบด้วยกลุ่มสถาปนิกและช่าง และมักเป็นการออกแบบ
และก่อสร้างด้วยกระบวนการก่อสร้างแบบพื้นถิ่นที่เริ่มจาก
รายละเอียดเล็กๆ และกลมกลืนไปกับบริบทท้องถิ่น ผลงาน
การออกแบบมักเกิดจากการทดลองผลิตและศึกษาวัสดุ
ภายใน workshop ในออฟฟิศเอง ซึ่งเป็นการค้นคว้าวิจัย
ที่มีการบันทึกและนำาไปพัฒนาใช้กับงานสถาปัตยกรรม
การใช้วัสดุจึงไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงเรื่องของความงาม แต่สะท้อน
ความเข้าใจเรื่องราวของบริบทท้องถิ่นภายใต้วัสดุนั้น
พัชรดายกตัวอย่างผลงาน 2 โครงการ ได้แก่ โครงการบ้าน-
ไม้ขนาดเล็กในอำาเภอแม่ริมซึ่งถูกปรับมาใช้โครงสร้างเหล็ก
ร่วมกับการใช้ไม้เก่าเพื่อความสะดวกและประหยัด การ
ออกแบบต้องการลดทอนองค์ประกอบที่ฟุ่มเฟือยออกไป
เหลือแต่ลักษณะเรียบง่ายที่แสดงการจำากัดความใหม่ของ
สถาปัตยกรรมไม้ในมุมมองของออฟฟิศ
โครงการต่อมาคือปั๊มน้ำามัน PTT ในเชียงใหม่ ซึ่งเป็น
โครงการปรับปรุงจากโครงสร้างอาคารเก่าที่ถูกหุ้มเปลือก
อาคารใหม่ด้วยเซรามิคที่ถูกค้นคว้า พัฒนาและผลิตจาก
โรงงานท้องถิ่นในเชียงใหม่ซึ่งเป็นผู้ใช้อาคารของปั๊มน้ำามัน
นั้นเอง

จีรเวช หงสกุล เน้นการให้ความสำาคัญกับบริบทรอบตัว
ตามความหมายของชื่อออฟฟิศ ทั้งในภาษาไทยและภาษา
อังกฤษ ‘Integrating Design Into Nature’ โครงการ
ChouiFong Tea Cafe I & II ในไร่ชาฉุยฟง เล่นกับการ
ออกแบบอาคารที่เคารพบริบทที่ตั้งที่เป็นเนินเขาของไร่ชา
ฉุยฟง โดยพยายามสร้างมุมมองที่ดีที่สุดทั้งจากอาคารสู่
ไร่ชารอบตัว และเมื่อมองจากไร่ชาเข้าสู่อาคาร การออก-
แบบคำานึงถึงการวางผังที่สร้างมุมมอง การเล่นระดับอาคาร
ตามความสูงต่ำาของที่ตั้ง การแสดงออกของแสงเงาที่เปลี่ยน
ไปตามเวลาและการเลือกใช้วัสดุที่ช่วยแยกโซน สร้างให้
ความสำาเร็จของโครงการที่กลายเป็นจุดหมายการท่อง
เที่ยวแห่งหนึ่งของเชียงรายช่วยสร้างงานให้คนในพื้นที่

‘Architecture as Literally Life’
Sher Maker Studio’s approach to architectural design
is predicated on the inextricable relationship between
architecture and life. Patcharada Inplang described
the rural upbringings of the studio’s two founders and
partners, herself and Thongchai Chansamak, which
explains their perspective on the rewards of a simple
way of life and the inventive and efficient use of locally
accessible resources. Sher Maker, a Chiang Mai-based
architectural practice, consists of a team of architects
and builders. Their expanding body of work and construction
techniques are heavily influenced by vernacular
construction techniques, beginning with small
details and components that embrace the vernacular
environment of a work. Their designs are often the outcome
of experimental production and material studies
undertaken in the studio’s workshop. The studio’s
research and development have been chronicled and
applied to their design, making the materials a reflection
of their understanding and appreciation of the
underlying story and context of each material rather
than merely their aesthetic merits.
Patcharada elaborated by illustrating the two projects
of the studio. The first is called the small wooden
residence in Chiang Mai’s Mae Rim area, where steel
construction was added to the building’s original wood
components as a more convenient and cost-effective
solution. The design reduced unnecessary features and
retained only the fundamental characteristics that
reshape the office’s comprehension and interpretation
of wooden architecture.
The renovation of a PTT gas station in Chiang Mai is
the next project they talked about in the presentation.
The existing structure received a new facade constructed
of ceramics invented and produced by a
local ceramic manufacturer, who are also one of the
project’s end users.

‘Contextual Interpretation’
Jeravej Hongsakul has always recognized the importance
of contexts. The design of ChouiFong Tea Café
I & II in ChouiFong Tea Plantation, as his office’s name,
‘Integrating Design into Nature,’ implies, is essentially
an architectural creation developed with a great respect
for the site’s context of vast sloped terrain. The design
frames and integrates the best possible view of the
stunning landscape into the architectural space.
From the exterior, the building’s changing levels,
which correlate to the high and low terrains of the

site, demonstrate how the layout was built with carefully
curated perspectives in mind. The design also
allows for the varying presence of light and shadow
at different times of the day. Meanwhile, materials are
used with an additional function, to help define distinct
zones of the building. As ChouiFong Tea Café I & II
has risen to become one of the most well-known
attractions in the province, its existence has created
numerous employment opportunities for members of
the community as well.
