dried; androgynophore 3.8 mm long, 0.9 mm wide, purplish to reddish on<br />

proximal half and greenish yellow on distal half when dried; free portions <strong>of</strong> the<br />

staminal filaments 3.4-3.8 mm long, 0.5-0.6 mm wide, linear, greenish yellow<br />

when dried; anthers 1.7-2.0 mm long, 0.9-1.3 mm wide; styles 3.8-4.3 mm long<br />

including stigmas, 0.4-0.5 mm wide, greenish yellow when dried; stigmas 1.1-1.3<br />

mm in diameter; ovary 1.8 mm long, 1.5 mm wide, globose, greenish yellow<br />

when dried. Fruit unknown. Fig. 8.18, 8.20.<br />

Distribution and Ecology<br />

Guatemala in the department <strong>of</strong> Alta Verapaz at ca. 762 m altitude. Based<br />

upon the ecology <strong>of</strong> the area, P. clypeophylla is likely found in seasonally dry<br />

areas associated with oaks and pines. The species has been collected in flower<br />

in April.<br />
