366 MacDougal attempted limited (less than ten) artificial self-pollinations of Passiflora mcvaughiana without success. However, P. mcvaughiana did cross with several other members of the supersection including P. megacoriacea, P. viridiflora, P. trinifolia, P. pallida, and P. suberosa. McCormick (1982) chromatographically screened leaf samples of P. mcvaughiana for flavonoids and did not find detectable levels of flavonol 3-O- glycosides or C-glycosylflavones. Figure 8.27.
