<strong>The</strong> basic theme <strong>of</strong> the Conference was “<strong>The</strong> Preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Physics</strong> Majors and<br />

<strong>Physics</strong> Teachers in Contemporary Society”. Within this theme the following subthemes<br />

were discussed: “<strong>The</strong> Use <strong>of</strong> New Technologies in the Preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Physics</strong> Majors and<br />

<strong>Physics</strong> Teachers”, “Research in <strong>Physics</strong> Education and the Preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Physics</strong><br />

Teachers”, “History and Philosophy <strong>of</strong> Science in the Preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Physics</strong> Teachers”,<br />

and “New Curricula for the Preparation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Physics</strong> Majors and <strong>Physics</strong> Teachers”.<br />

Conference activities included lectures, round tables, oral presentations, poster<br />

sessions, workshops, working groups, and demonstrations.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Proceedings prepared in CD-ROM include full texts <strong>of</strong> all papers presented<br />

orally, abstracts <strong>of</strong> all papers presented in posters, as well as the abstracts <strong>of</strong> the<br />

workshops and the list <strong>of</strong> participants.<br />

This <strong>Final</strong> <strong>Report</strong> includes the recommendations <strong>of</strong> the working groups, approved<br />

by the Assembly <strong>of</strong> the VII IACPE, full texts <strong>of</strong> lectures and round table presentations, as<br />

well as the program, the list <strong>of</strong> participants and the financial account. In general, these<br />

texts are in the languages in which they were originally presented, Portuguese, Spanish<br />

or English. <strong>The</strong> electronic version <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Report</strong> is available at the site<br />

http://www.if.ufrgs.br.<br />
