I NEWS I SharkNinja

I NEWS I SharkNinja doubles stand size and launches nine new products at IFA 2023 The company is in very good shape, generating sales of .7 billion last year and boasting a CAGR of 20% between 2008 and 2022. At SharkNinja's press conference on Thursday ahead of IFA, Michael Maier, Managing Director DACH, said that the decision to more than double the size of its IFA exhibition space compared to last year was "testimony to the unprecedented growth and rapid expansion" of the company. Key to the consistent growth has been a focus on new products and "an obsession with five-star reviews from consumers", according to Tom Brown, President of EMEA, who added: "That means we've succeeded in making their lives better." At IFA 2023, SharkNinja is launching nine products in air frying, outdoor cooking, cordless vacuuming (including wet/dry carpet, and spot cleaning), and hair care. For example, the Ninja FlexDrawer is an extra-large air fryer with a capacity of 10.4 litres that can also be divided into two independent zones. Outdoors, the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Oven is an electric high-heat unit, a pizza maker, and a barbecue smoker that is said to give users "brick oven inspired results". In vacuuming, the Shark HydroVac is a three-in-one cordless floor cleaner that cleans up wet and dry messes at the same time, with an odour-neutralising feature to keep smells away. Meanwhile, the Shark Detect Pro was described as a "game-changer". Utilising four deepcleaning technologies, the cordless cleaner can adapt automatically to different floor types. The US company, which debuted on the NYSE this summer, has also made an entry into the portable blending market. Ninja Blast is SharkNinja's firstever cordless portable blender, ideal for making smoothies, protein shakes, and frozen drinks on the move, and powerful enough to crush ice. Shark also announced its partnership with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton as Shark Beauty's first-ever global brand ambassador, while expanding the division's range of products. Appleton will work with Shark Beauty to bring the salon experience to the home, with inperson brand activations, and social and digital content on its way Hall 6.1 / Stand 103 Beurer announces new electric toothbrushes among other product innovations at IFA Beurer TB50 electric toothbrush Beurer TB30 electric toothbrush For the first time, Beurer is presenting electric toothbrushes at IFA - a new addition to the brand's range of health and well-being products. Throughout its long history, Beurer has become synonymous with health and well-being, developing an evergrowing portfolio of related products. At its press conference on the first day of IFA 2023, the brand highlighted its new electric toothbrushes: the TB 30 and the TB 50. Equipped with oscillating and pulsating brushing technology, the TB 30 removes plaque and ensures both clean teeth and healthy gums. With an integrated 2-minute timer and powerful battery that allows for about 20 days of battery life, the TB 30 offers two cleaning programs. "Clean" is ideal for a thorough and complete cleaning while "Sensitive" is adapted to gentle, gumfriendly use. The TB 50 also uses Beurer's brushing technology, but in addition to “Clean” and “Sensitive", users can also select the “White” program for natural teeth whitening. To help protect teeth and gums, the device's LED display tells users if they are exerting too much pressure. Additionally, the TB 50 boasts a battery life of around 45 days. In addition to its electric toothbrushes, Beurer is showcasing new styling products within its MenCare range, including the MN2X Precision Trimmer and the MN4X Beard Trimmer. For the first time, Beurer is also launching a sustainable product range: Green Planet, which includes heat pads, heated overblankets, and heated underblankets, all top and bottom fabrics containing between 80 to 100% recycled materials Hall 4.1 / Stand 216 10 IFA INTERNATIONAL • MONDAY 4 TH SEPTEMBER 2023 www.ifa-berlin.com/content-hub

I NEWS I The secret to successful startup collaborations at IFA 2023 Startups and large corporate companies working together might seem a bit like David and Goliath—but they often depend on each other. Corporations can be slower to innovate, whereas startups are nimble and have developed solutions that big companies want. On the first day of the IFA Next conference programme, there was a valuable session looking at how both startups and corporations in the consumer electronics industry can unlock synergies to accelerate growth. A panel of experts talked the audience through the essentials of making this relationship work from establishing meaningful connections, to leveraging each other's strengths. Alexandra Renner, Startup Lead - BMW Startup Garage, said, "For us, one of the main benefits is the speed. If you were to develop a solution internally, it would take much longer." Jara Pascual, Founder & CEO of Collabwith, a global platform for collaborations for innovation, added, "Sometimes it's difficult to create a Even "green couch potatoes" can reshape our environment Victoria Neuhofer Entrepreneur, DAMN Plastic culture of innovation in an organisation and bring ideas or projects to life." Startups can bring something to the table in this instance. Collaborations can also save corporations money. Lu Han, the Open Bosch Programme Director at Bosch Ventures commented: "We don't have to develop everything ourselves, so cost-saving is also a benefit." From the larger company's side, the impact of the startup concept needs to be clear. Renner said: "Why is it worth it (for us) to take the risk? There should be a business case and measurable KPIs you can reach." She added: "You need a dedicated, motivated business unit that really needs the solution of the startup." This requires a little research and forward planning on the part of the Victoria Neuhofer, an entrepreneur and the force behind Damn Plastic, will be on the Sustainability Village stage at 2:00 p.m. today with her tips on how to take a lead on environmental issues "without lifting more than a finger". Her keynote is titled "The Power of YOU & Environmental Leadership from the C-Suite" and we caught up with her to give you a sneak peek. What will you focus on this afternoon? I will be emphasising the fusion of individual choices and executive smaller party in order to ensure they hit the right target partner to secure investment, and possibly even a buyout at a later stage leadership in driving sustainability and also explaining why I founded Damn Plastic. Passive sustainability efforts are underestimated, so a primary highlight will be the concept of the "green couch potato" and how making small, conscious purchasing decisions can lead to transformative environmental change. I will also look at which strategies cost no money but can have a huge impact on the environment. Why should senior management lead on sustainability? Senior managers have a unique position of influence and their decisions set the course for the entire organisation. By leading on sustainability, they not only shape the environmental footprint of their company but also send a powerful message to employees, stakeholders, and competitors. Such leadership establishes a standard for responsible business, demonstrating that profitability and sustainability aren't mutually exclusive. Who is your target audience? Decision-makers in businesses: CEOs, managers, and other C-suite executives. However, it's also for professionals across all levels and sectors who understand the From left: Cate Lawrence, Senior Writer at Tech.eu; Alexandra Renner, Startup Lead at BMW Startup Garage; Jara Pascual, Founder and CEO, Collabwith; and Lu Han, Open Bosch Program Director at Bosch Ventures discuss startup collaborations. importance of sustainability and want to play their part, whether through active participation or passive efforts like mindful consumption. What do you hope attendees will take away? I want them to recognise that every decision, whether made in a boardroom or a shopping aisle, has environmental repercussions. My goal is for them to see that, through conscious choices, they can become champions of sustainability. One needn't make grand gestures to make a grand impact. I also want to emphasise that plastic is not the enemy, under my motto: it's not about damn plastic, it's about damn people KEYNOTE Date: 4 th September 2023 Location: Hall 2.2, Sustainability Forum THE POWER OF YOU & ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP FROM MANAGEMENT > 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. IFA INTERNATIONAL • MONDAY 4 TH SEPTEMBER 2023 11
