BROUGHT TO YOU BY TRADE

BROUGHT TO YOU BY TRADE TALK Jan Nintemann, owner of Global Fairs/ TT-Messe, the organiser of IFA’s oldest trade-only pavilion, tells how visiting buyers still crave accessories and innovations for all categories… My first experiences exhibiting at fairs were in the 1990s as co-founder of Nintemann Telecom (later re-named NTPlus and today part of the ALSO Group) and as founder of the Teleprofi- Trade Cooperation. I did a lot of pioneering work and even had to organise our presence at leading exhibitions including IFA. Later the focus of my marketing agency became the development and organisation of B2B theme parks, in the form of a shared stand area. Who should come to the Reseller Park? Reseller Park attracts trade buyers, mainly through our active trade promotion. Retailers, e-tailers, distributors, wholesalers and other buyers come every year. We have many new products with a good mix of established and emerging suppliers (both manufactures and distributors). The business is always changing Jan Nintemann Owner, Global Fairs/TT-Messe Reseller Park: Accessories Lead the Way IFA BUSINESS DAYS IFA MATCHMAKING MEETINGS Matchmaking Meetings give exhibitors and visitors a chance to meet the right potential business partners. These meetings are organised in advance and provide an opportunity to meet with IFA participants. In order to take part in the Matchmaking Meetings you will be required to register for the IFA Business Days. Shortly before IFA begins you will receive a confirmed appointment schedule. so new categories evolve and come to Reseller Park to catch the eye of the industry buyers. What are the key trends in terms of your exhibitors this year? This year, once again, the accessories sector for mobile phones are key for buyers. We have co-exhibitors who have been with us for many years, such as Avenir Telecom (Energizer) or Intos (inLine brand), but also IT accessory products and smart home solutions such as video monitoring cameras or control centres and even Hitec loudspeakers can be found here. Which is the most important change in this year’s Reseller Park? IFA has now set up IFA Global Markets to run from 3-6 September —a separate marketplace for the OEM /ODM and component factories of the world. A visit to the IFA Global Markets in STATION-Berlin is worthwhile not only for all the OEM buyers from all over Europe – but many IFA exhibitors will also not want to miss the opportunity on their doorstep IFA BUSINESS TOURS On each of the three days IFA NEXT will hold a daily IFA Business Tour on robotics, smart living and VR/AR respectively. The tours will stop in at five to six selected exhibitors who will present their products and research results. In order to take part in the IFA Business Tours, you are requested to register on the IFA Business Days website - https://www.b2match.eu/ifa2017/ » HALL 26a / STAND 222b THE CRITICAL EYE – AND COMMENTS OF THE MEDIA AT IFA Each day in IFA International, we bring you feedback from media at the show, helping buyers and manufacturers get a better understanding of how they work at IFA. Region SPOTLIGHT ON TAIWAN Exports from Taiwan Continue to Thrive The Industrial Technology Research Institute is a non-profit R&D organisation in Taiwan engaging in applied research and technical services. Founded in 1973, ITRI has played a key role in transforming Taiwan's economy from a labour-intensive industry to a high-tech industry. Chengkai Su is a representative of ITRI.... How would you best describe the export market in Taiwan? How big is the export market for Taiwanese companies? Generally speaking, Taiwan is an export-oriented country and the total export amount was US$ 280 billion in 2016. There is no doubt that China (Hong Kong included) is the biggest trading partner which contributed about 31% of the total trade volume in 2016. What are Taiwanese companies looking for at this year's IFA? What are the trends? According to my experience in the past two years, companies that attend IFA are looking for business opportunities mainly. No matter the size the company, IFA is an important event to demonstrate what they have to European customers. Some Taiwanese research institutes, like ITRI, will also assign employee to Berlin for getting the latest product trends for products that are going to be launched to market before end of year. Which Taiwanese companies are performing well, both at home and overseas? Acer, ASUS and HTC have built up their own reputation around the world in the laptop and mobile phone battle field, but it’s a pity that bicycle companies Giant or Merida are not at IFA as I’d like to to introduce them to IFA visitors. COUP, the e-scooter sharing startup in Berlin, also co-operates with Gogoro from Taiwan as its e-scooter provider. What are the best opportunities for Taiwanese manufacturers? Are Taiwanese companies making the most of developing IoT solutions, for example? There will be lots of new things which might provide an opportunity for Taiwan manufacturers, IoT is one of them. Developing IoT solutions are important to Taiwanese companies, but it is also vital to leverage domain know-how to fulfill the requirement rather than to make it fashion through IoT Chengkai Su ITRI SELECTED TAIWAN EXHIBITORS AT IFA IN-TRUST DEBUTS FIRST WATER- PROPELLED EYE MASSAGER In-Trust has launched Aurai, the world’s first waterpropelled eye massager with both cool and warm compress. Demos of the product and executive interviews are happening on its stand at IFA. The company said that eyes are constantly working and put under strain. Staring at screens, at work for hours and visually entertaining ourselves with network channels at night, the company said, causes irritation and fatigue to our eyes. With both cool and warm temperature settings along with optional vibration pulses, Aurai improves blood circulation by creating a gentle and soothing water massage to relieve stresses, tension around the eyes and rejuvenate users.
