New brachiopod from the Ponta Grossa Formation,
Paraná State, Brazil

The Ponta Grossa Formation, Paraná State, Brazil, has a well-known Devonian brachiopod
fauna (Neolochkoviano/Frasniano). The first registers of this fauna are dated from 1876,
year that the Geological Commission of the Brazil‟s Empire promoted field studies (1875-
1877) at Ponta Grossa city and vicinities. In the present paper a new species of
Brachiopoda, *Lingulepis wagoneri* sp. nov, (Linguliformea – Lingulata – Obolidae) is
registered and described for Ponta Grossa Formation. All specimens were preserved in
siltstone shale and dark-gray siltstone and were collected in Ponta Grossa and Tibagi
outcrops, located in the eastern portion of the Paraná Basin.
