This work consists of a description of recreational activities carried out because of
Paleontologist's Day, celebrated on March 7th. The activities– carried out in a shopping
mall in Rio de Janeiro‟s West Zone (Center Shopping Rio) – were the following: “Folding
Dinosaurs – an origami workshop”, “Footprints Race” e “Playing the Paleontologist”. This
work shows that these recreational activities - normally are not seen as part of formal
teaching places can be a great tool to raise children‟s interest in scientific culture and aims
at stimulating initiatives of scientific divulging during Paleontologist‟s Day.
