104 NOTUI^AE ENTOMOI.OGICAE Xt,lll, 1963
stout; the pedicel is rather slender. The proximal segments of the flagellum
are rather short, the following segments being twice as long as broad. The last
segment is disinctly broader than the previous.
The thorax is ochreous brown with two distinct dark brown spots on the
meso- and metanotum. The legs are pale testaceous with short hairs. The knees
and tarsi are pale brown.
The wings (fig. 31) are elongate with a rounded apex. The membrane is
hyaline, the fore-wing with a faint tinge of brownish. Sc and Rj of both wings
are brown; the other veins are hyaline. The veins are without hairs. Marginal
fringes are present on both wings. The venation is of the usual Sernidalis type.
The cross-vein between R^ and Rs sometimes intercepts Rs at the forking
point, sometimes at the branch R 2+3 and the cross-vein between Rs and
Mj-fj sometimes intercepts Rs at its branching point, sometimes at the
branch R44-5. Length of fore-wing 2.5—3.0 mm, of hind-wing 2.1—2.5
mm.
The abdomen is weakly sclerotized except for the male genital segments
(figs. 29—30). The hypandrium (hy) is rather short compared with the related
species C. imcinata Tjeder. The ectoprocts (epr) are weakly sclerotized. The
gonarcus is large with a stout finger-like process. Its distal parts bears long
hairs. The parameres are rather long, each ending in two upwardly-curved
hooks connected by a hyaline membrane. The black uncinus (u) is very large.
The presence of a uncinus shows that 5. pseudouncinata belongs to the species
group S. uncinata Tjeder, S. meridionalis Kimmins, S. terminalis Kimmins
and the species seems to be closely related to 5. uncinata.
The female genitalia (figs. 26, 28) are of the usual Semidalis-type with
large ectoprocts (epr). The ectoprocts are long and narrow and richly beset
with long hairs. The gonapophyses laterales (gl) are between the ectroprocts.
The bursa copulatrix was not visible.
Ecology: The species has been captured on a variety of trees, mostly conifers:
Cupressus sp. Thuja occidentalis, Tamarix sp, Pistacia atlantica, Juniper
us sp.
Morocco: The species seems to be common on the Atlantic coast and in the
