An extreme flight
over the Alps
Now that’s something
where wings would really
come in handy: At the 6th
Red Bull X-Alps, one of the
toughest adventure races
in the world, the challenge
is to get from Salzburg to
Monaco only paragliding
or walking. Starting on
July 7, 32 athletes from 21
countries will once again
count on iron fitness, tenacity
and excellent flying
skills to win the ‘unofficial
world championship’ and
be the first to reach the
destination. Before that
though, they have to overcome
Karwendelgebirge,
reach Garmisch-
Partenkirchen and fight
their way up Zugspitze!
Strauss anniversary
In 2014, the Richard-
Strauss-Festival will
celebrate two anniversaries:
‚Happy Birthday,
Mr. Strauss!’ will be the
motto of the opening on
June 11, the composer’s
150th birthday. Internationally
renowned soloists,
ensembles and orchestras
will p(l)ay him his respects
until June 19. At the same
time the 25th anniversary
of the festival itself is going
to be celebrated!
City of athletes
On December 27, 2013,
the already legendary City-
Biathlon will once more
lure world class runners
and thousands of onlookers
to the pedestrian zone of
Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The sound of home
At concerts that take place
twice a week between May
and September and on
four folkloric evenings,
the traditional bands of
Garmisch and Partenkirchen
are going to ensure
a traditional atmosphere.

Golf Cup, a series of
international tournaments
for amateurs, ‘Play well!’
is what the players are
going wish each other in
Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

try out whether or not electric
vehicles and services
are suitable for daily use
in tourism.
