LA LOUPE Garmisch - Partenkirchen No. 1 - 2013/2014

engl. ⁄ For those who are afraid of heights this is the perfect
spot. Because one rarely gets the chance to overcome
one’s fear in a more beautiful way than on the viewing
platform AlpspiX high above Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Situated by the summit station of Alpspitzbahn, the steel
beams that seem to float above the abyss instill a healthy
respect. They are unyielding as they form an X, 1,000
meters above the ground and they even get reverent
‘ahs’ and ‘ohs’ out of the toughest and most experienced
mountaineers and hikers. Especially the glazed end of
the impressive structure offers the visitors spectacular
and unrestricted views of Zugspitze, Waxensteine and
the huge Alpspitz-North Face underneath them, far down
into the wild Höllental. Thanks to the cable railways
this unforgettable experience is accessible to anyone and
is often combined with an easy hike or a discovery tour.
Families with children could hike along the ‘Gipfel-
Erlebnisweg’ (‘Summit-experience path’) which leads
around the Osterfelderkopf and where information on
the alpine flora and fauna as well as geology are presented
in a child-oriented form only to then reach its
absolute highlight on the viewing platform ‘AlpspiX’.
The culinary-experience path from the Alpspitzbahn’s
summit station to the Kreuzeckbahn’s summit station
can also be combined with a view off the ‘modern day
