Austragungsorten der traditionsreichen Skisport-Veranstaltung.
Und wo sonst die Skistars um Hundertstel kämpfen, kann auch
der sportliche Hobbyläufer auf den Spuren des Mythos carven:
Mit zwei Varianten und insgesamt 1.800 Höhenmetern auf sieben
Kilometern Länge ist die „Kandahar-Runde“ durchs Skigebiet
Garmisch-Classic ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.
Weniger ambitionierte Winterfans können dank der Mittelstation
des Kandahar-Express die spektakulären Passagen der teilweise
sehr anspruchsvollen WM-Piste einfach auslassen und dennoch
auf Tuchfühlung mit dem Mythos Kandahar gehen.

as Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Notorious slopes and
exciting events are the ingredients of a success story
rich in tradition.
The family friendly skiing resort Garmisch-Classic, where hobby
athletes enjoy leisurely rides, the stars of the international ski circus
are regulars, too. The proud record: In 1978 and 2011 the Alpine
World Ski Championships took place here, in 2013 the famous
Kandahar races took place for the 60th time and ever since 1970
Garmisch-Partenkirchen has been an annual venue of World Cup
events. In 2013 the two FIS Race Weekends with downhill, super G
and giant slalom on the legendary Kandahar piste were a highlight
for racers and onlookers alike. Spectacular sections like the ‘Free
Fall’ with a gradient of – believe it or not – 92% make for plenty of
adrenaline; at the men’s downhill event speeds of up to 120 kph (75
mph) and 60m (nearly 200 ft) jumps have been measured! And the
sections Tröglhang, Himmelreich, Hölle and FIS-Schneise require
perfect technique and make the course one of the World Cup’s most
challenging.
