Eishockey
pur auf dem
Riessersee
Pure ice hockey fun on Riessersee
dt.
Riessersee statt!
engl. ⁄ Have you ever heard the term ‚Pond Hockey‘? Frozen lakes are
where ice skating began and Pond Hockey was started on the frozen Riessersee
in 2011! In front of amazing natural scenery the tournament which
is organized by the German Icehockey Union offers pure joy of playing: the
mode is four against four, no goalkeeper, no slapshots and checks, minimum
gear. The participants get to choose their outfits themselves – being original
is officially rewarded. And when amateurs and professionals alike match
each other for two days in k.o. games and finales, they’re cheered on by about
4,000 enthusiastic fans. Due to bad weather conditions the third edition
in 2013 had to take place on the Olypmic sports center’s open-air areas but
hopefully the next matches for goals and the competition for the ‘Golden
Snow Shovel’ will take place on the idyllic Riessersee once more!
