1 Kontinuumstheorie Voraussetzung: Orthotropie Symmetrie zur Mittelebene Ebener Spannungszustand Bemerkungen: Bei der Kontinuumstheorie werden im Laminat Faser und Harz als fest miteinander verbunden angesehen. Behindert wird die Anwendung der Theorie lediglich durch die Voraussetzung des symmetrischen Aufbaus des Laminates. Laminattheorie Voraussetzung: Die Schichten sind fest miteinander verbunden Bei einer Belastung ist in jeder Einzelschicht die Verformung gleich groß Finite-Elemente-Methode (FEM) Voraussetzung: Die FEM ist sicherlich die allgemeingültigste Methode zur Auslegung und Berechnung von Faserverbundbauteilen. Einige Firmen bieten speziell zur Berechnung von Faserverbundbauteilen Module an, die die Besonderheiten, Anisotropie u.ä. von Faserverbundwerkstoffen berücksichtigen. Einschränkungen für diese Berechnungsmethode bestehen je nach der verwendeten Software. Inwieweit Voraussetzungen für die Verwendung einzelner Programme erfüllt sein müssen (Orthotropie, Symmetrie zur Mittelebene, ebener Spannungszustand, etc.) muß je nach eingesetztem Programm in Erfahrung gebracht werden. Ermittlung der Materialdaten Voraussetzungen für die Berechnungen ist die Kenntnis über die mechanischen Daten der eingesetzten Materialien. Die Anzahl und Art der benötigten Daten hängt von der verwendeten Berechnungsmethode und dem gewünschten Materialaufbau ab.Oftmals liegen die benötigten Kennwerte für die gewünschte Materialkombination nicht vor. Mittels theoretischer Ansätze ist es möglich, aus den mechanischen Daten der einzelnen Komponenten, Faser und Matrix, diese zu berechnen. Ist die Berechnung nicht möglich, sind zerstörende mechanische Prüfungen zur Ermittlung der Daten notwendig. Versagensanalyse Nachdem die Berechnung durchgeführt wurde, ist die Analyse des Ergebnisses notwendig. Speziell für Faserverbundbauteile wurden in der Vergangenheit mehrere Versagenshypothesen entwickelt. Diese Theorien unterscheiden sich in den betrachteten Belastungen (statisch oder dynamisch), in der Bewertung der auftretenden Versagensarten (Faserbruch, Matrixbruch, Grenzflächenversagen) und in den grundsätzlichenÜberlegungen, ob festigkeitsorientiert oder gegen maximale Dehnungen dimensioniert werden soll. Ähnlich wie bei den Versagenshypothesen für konventionelle Werkstoffe soll eine Vergleichbarkeit zwischen einem mehrachsigen Beanspruchungszustand und einem unter einachsigen Laborversuchen ermitteltem Vergleichswert ermöglicht werden. Ergebnis Die Aus- und Bewertung der Auslegung von Faserverbundbauteilen ist der letzte Schritt. Die vielfältigen Variationsmöglichkeiten der Materialien, der Faserorientierungen, die freie Formgestaltung und Fertigungseinflüsse erschweren die rein theoretische Betrachtung des Problems. Eine Fertigung von Prototypen und praxisnahe Tests mit ihnen sind somit unbedingt notwendig. Erst diese Ergebnisse geben letztendlich Aufschluß darüber, ob das Bauteil in der Praxis eingesetzt werden kann. 1.18 BAUTEILKONSTRUKTIONEN AUSSAGEN ÜBER DAS AUSLEGEN VON COMPOSITE-BAUTEILEN COMPONENT DESIGNS GENERAL STATEMENTS ON THE DESIGN OF COMPOSITE COMPONENTS Continuum theory The component must exhibit the following: Orthotropy Symmetry about the centre plane Plane state of stress Brief description: The continuum theory treats the laminate’s fibres and resin as being firmly combined. Applying this theory is restricted solely by the requirement that the laminate exhibits a symmetrical structure. Laminate theory The component must exhibit the following: The plies are joined firmly together When loaded, each ply undergoes equal deformation Finite elements method (FEM) The component must exhibit the following: Without doubt, the finite elements method is the most common method used in the design and calculation of fibre composite components. A number of companies offer modules that specifically take into consideration the salient features, anisotropy, and other aspects in the calculation of fibre composites. This method of calculation can be restricted in its scope by the software used, so it is important to know beforehand what the software requires to run properly (orthotropy, symmetry about the centre plane, plane state of stress, etc.). Determining the material data This stage requires mechanical data that must be obtained beforehand from the materials used. As to the quantity and type of these data, this depends in turn on the adopted method of calculation and the planned material structure. The characteristics needed for the planned material combination are often not known. A theoretical approach could be taken to derive these values from the mechanical data of each component, i.e. of the fibres and matrix. If these calculations are not possible, then the designer must resort to destructive mechanical tests. Failure analysis Once the calculations have been concluded, the results must be analysed. In the past, several failure hypotheses were developed specifically for fibre composite components. These theories differ in the observed loading conditions (static or dynamic), the evaluation of the failure type (fibre fracture, matrix fracture, interface failure), and the underlying consideration as to whether the dimensioning is based on the component’s strength or the maximum permitted elongations. Similar to those for conventional materials, these failure hypotheses are intended to facilitate comparisons between a multiaxial state of stress and a reference value obtained from uniaxial laboratory tests. Results The last step involves evaluating and assessing the design of fibre composite components. The purely theoretical observation of this problem is made difficult by the wide range of possible variations, the fibre orientations, the freedom in the design, and manufacturing effects. So it is highly important that a prototype is produced and subjected to field trials. Only these final findings can verify whether the component can be used in practice.
