The first Danish partner, who had heparin syringes filled by
Vetter, brought the first signs of Vetter’s international breakthrough
that Helmut Vetter had long envisioned. The pharmaceutical
company provided significant input regarding quality
assurance and documentation for aseptic processes.
Three more heparin customers as well as one dual-chamber
syringe customer for liquid / liquid syringes were added to the
customer portfolio. The dual-chamber syringe was for an antirheumatic
medication whose shelf life in mixed form was too
short and therefore needed to be kept separate.
Pitfalls were par for the course in early production, but after
hard work a solid know-how was established, thus laying the
foundation for the future of Vetter. The trial filling followed the
production of stability batches and after successful registration,
nothing more stood in the way.
At this time English-language classes became mandatory for
personnel in order to prepare them for international customers.

to 1989. During those years, she devoted a great deal
of energy to the company’s rapid development.
On average there is a three-year waiting period between
the trial filling on a production line and the product going to
market. As a result, Vetter concentrated on its own development
of dual-chamber systems for lyophilized products.
The technological advances and further specialization of the
syringe filling technology coupled with the growing international
customer portfolio had a marked influence on the internal
workings of Vetter in 1977. The company regulations for
production and the remuneration system, which was expanded
to include a job evaluation, were modified.
The 70s were a time during which Helmut Vetter exhibited
his outstanding abilities as a manager, technician, financier and
entrepreneur. His ability to analyze the market accurately led
the company to new heights and resulted in a solid foundation
for the future. Today, Vetter is a strong player in the international
market.
