The »Vetter Blätter« 3/1998 reported on the success of
the year:
· Successful inspection of the new production facility in
Langenargen
· Successful inspection of the new production facility in
Ravensburg
· Holbeinstrasse Logistics Center successfully launched
· Setup for future growth in the areas of manufacture, visual
inspection and storage
· New domestic and international customers added
· Increased growth
And the logo, as Vetter’s distinctive mark, was also brought
to Vetter Pharma-Turm Inc., USA.
If Helmut Vetter, as an entrepreneur and a well-rounded personality,
is being honored in the 1999 section of this chronicle,
it is in order to underline his life’s work as the basis for the next
generation as well as for the continuing existence of the Vetter
Group.
Helmut Vetter passed away unexpectedly on February 1,
1999, at the age of 78. His mental capacity to unite and integrate,
his trademark throughout his life, was felt in his company
to the end. He entrusted the maintenance and continuing
development of his values in the company to his successors. To
this day, these values are firmly rooted in the common family
strategy.
Since the move to the administration building in 2003, visitors
from the world round entering the foyer have been greeted
by a bronze bust offering a vivid image of the company founder.
This sculpture was a gift from Udo J. Vetter on the occasion of
his father’s 70th birthday and it shows Helmut Vetter as he was.
He had a lively and active spirit that was recognized by those
he met. It was his curiosity and openness, evidenced in his travels
around the world that enabled him to see past conventional
boundaries and lead the company through many transformations
to the top of the market niche in prefilled syringe technology
where it stands today. And he always faced the future, true
to his motto: »Life’s opportunities always lie ahead.«

He was as serious in his personal activities as in his work. He
was an accomplished skier and sailor, winning the Blue Ribbon
in the Lake Constance regatta eight times with his yacht, the
Argo. But in everything he did he tried to find a balance, never
going to extremes, but always doing the necessary.
He possessed a mixture of heart and reason, exhibited
a sense of social responsibility and was a patron of science,
education, culture and sports. His appreciation and love of life
led him to be active and involved in the important business decisions
of the company until the day of his death.
The energy he passed on to those he met is evidenced by his
activities on the day of his death. In the afternoon he attended
a piano recital with representatives from the University of Ulm,
and in the evening a discussion of a planned presentation of
the project »Development for a Medical Laser to Access Blood
Vessels« at the laser technology department at the University of
Ulm, which was to be made public two days later.
His problem-solving and concern with customer satisfaction
led him to be an influential personality of his generation and a
trendsetter of ideals for people and the company. He is and will
remain the spirit behind the Vetter Group in 2000 and beyond.
