To bring the Vetter Group together, the logo was used to
better define the corporate identity and was later recognized in
the USA.
On January 1, 1998, a sealed capital investment contract
between the Vetter family and Gland Pharma was presented in
the Trade Center building in Bombay, India, in front of 1,600
guests.
This Indian company, which like Vetter is family-owned, has
been in existence for over 20 years and, as a contract manufacturer
of prefilled syringes, ampoules, vials and liquids, operates
in similar fields as the Vetter Group.
In recent years, the Gland production facilities have been
continually upgraded to the latest standards in processing
technology. In 1996 and 1997, the Vetter Group introduced the
necessary know-how for the filling of single-chamber syringes.
This enabled the plant to comply with current pharmaceutical
quality standards, as attested to by Gland’s being awarded the
WHO GMP certificate.
Helmut Vetter traveled all continents to encounter and
understand as many people, countries and cultures as possible.
He returned from one trip many years ago with the name of the
Hindu deity Ganesha, which he gave to his motorboat.
In India, Ganesha is supposed to bring good fortune to
new business projects.

With the Protective Cloak: The original
and the reproduction for Gland
Upper Swabia has an equally meaningful symbol: The Madonna
of Ravensburg, who uses her cloak to cover and protect
the people and their activities. What could be more symbolic
than bringing Ganesha and the Madonna of Ravensburg
together, in order to represent the Vetter family’s commitment
to Gland?
A reproduction of the Madonna of Ravensburg was commissioned
from a woodcarver from Oberammergau, with a
slight change to include Asian faces. The Ravensburg parish
priest consecrated the statue and Udo J. Vetter handed it over to
Gland in India at a solemn ceremony. This new »Madonna with
the Protective Cloak« is now displayed in the entrance area to
the »Helmut block« (named after Helmut Vetter) in Gland in
Hyderabad, India, to protect the joint project.
