Helmut Vetter explained the vision he had for the company
for the 90s in the Vetter Blätter issue no. 6/1987:
»1987 was without a doubt one of the most meaningful
years at Vetter as after 10 years of development at Vetter, the
Vetter Lyo-Ject ® started to take off. Vetter Lyo-Ject ® refers
to the freeze-drying of the active agent within the syringe, an
innovation developed in-house. The benefits resulting from this
innovation took the form of a 20% increase in the workforce in
the last year and a transition from a conventional pharmaceutical
production company to a manufacturer of highly specialized
prefilled syringes. Internal restructuring to allow the departments
to concentrate their efforts was one of the signs of growth
in the company. In this respect I would like to mention that my
son, Udo Vetter, will be a director of Vetter Pharma-Fertigung
GmbH & Co. KG starting May 1, 1987.

The Vetter Lyo-Ject ® of the third
generation from the 90s
He has spent the past 12 years in the United States, where he
graduated from the University of Washington, in Seattle, with
a degree in pharmacy and then spent numerous years working
in a successful American pharmaceutical company. Owing to
his knowledge of the American market, I asked him to become
managing director of Vetter Pharma-Turm Inc. with the goal of
establishing a production site in the United States.
A further objective is to market our know-how on an
international level through licensing and joint ventures with
emphasis on prefilled syringes and especially Vetter Lyo-Ject ®
dual-chamber syringes.«
The same »Vetter Blätter«, 6/1987, reported the installation
of a new, 10-ton, DM 1-million (EUR 511,000 today) lyophilizer
and it described the work done in the microbiology labs.
