Establislied cliurcli and a Free clrarcli, <strong>the</strong> latter<br />
erected in flie year 1843. It likewise contains several<br />
schools. The ridge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> coast at this point is veryrocky<br />
and precipitous being about 200 feet above sea<br />
level, and continues gTadually rising in a sou<strong>the</strong>rly<br />
direction for ionr miles to Dickmovintlaw Hill in <strong>the</strong><br />
adjoining parish <strong>of</strong> St. Vigeans.<br />
LUNAJN" is a small parish, bounded on <strong>the</strong> south<br />
by <strong>the</strong> river Luna,n, on <strong>the</strong> north by Maryton and<br />
Craig, on <strong>the</strong> east by <strong>the</strong> German Ocean, and on <strong>the</strong><br />
west by Kinnell, and is situated about four miles<br />
from Montrose and seven from Arbroath. The bay<br />
forms a segment <strong>of</strong> about five miles at each extremity,<br />
about a mile <strong>of</strong> wMch are bold, rugged, and per^<br />
pendicular rocks, rising in pyi'amid sha]3ed columns<br />
to 100 or 150 feet high, and is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> finest bays<br />
in <strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />
