DAIKSIE is a parish and village, situated three<br />

miles from Cupar and eight miles from Dundee. The<br />

parish is nearly three miles in extent each way, containing<br />

2,500 acres. It is bounded on <strong>the</strong> west by<br />

Cupar, on <strong>the</strong> east by Leuchars, on <strong>the</strong> south by<br />

Kemback, and on <strong>the</strong> north by Logie and Kilmany,<br />

and is intersected by <strong>the</strong> river Eden, which is here<br />

crossed by a bridge <strong>of</strong> three arches. The church,<br />

which is in <strong>the</strong> Saxon style <strong>of</strong> architecture, was<br />

erected in <strong>the</strong> seventeenth century. There is also a<br />

Eoman Catholic chapel in <strong>the</strong> parish.<br />

KILMANY is a very irregular parish, being about<br />

six miles in length and varying from one mile to<br />

three in breadth. It is situated five miles from<br />

Cupar, and is bounded on <strong>the</strong> east by Porgan, on <strong>the</strong><br />

west by Moonzie and Creich, on <strong>the</strong> south by Logie<br />

and Cupar, and on <strong>the</strong> north by Balmerino. The<br />

parish is in a high state <strong>of</strong> cultivation, and is well<br />

drained and watered. There is a parish church and<br />

school, also a United Presbyterian Church at<br />

EathiUett.<br />

LOGIE is a small parish, four miles in length, and<br />

about a mile and a-half in breadth, bounded on <strong>the</strong><br />

east by Leuchars, on <strong>the</strong> west by Kilmany, on <strong>the</strong><br />

south by Dairsie, and on <strong>the</strong> ndrth by Forgan, and is<br />

situated six miles north from Cupar. There is a<br />

parish church and school.<br />

MONIMAIL is a parish containing <strong>the</strong> villages <strong>of</strong><br />

Bow <strong>of</strong> Fife, Easter Fernie, and Letham, it is six<br />

miles in length and four in breadth, bounded on <strong>the</strong><br />

south by Cults and CoUessie, on <strong>the</strong> north by Dunbog,<br />

Creich and Moonzie, on <strong>the</strong> west by Abdie, and<br />

on <strong>the</strong> east by Cupar, from which place it is situate<br />

about five miles. On <strong>the</strong> summit <strong>of</strong> Mount Hill, in<br />

<strong>the</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>rn part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> parish, <strong>the</strong>re is a monumental<br />

pillar to <strong>the</strong> late Earl <strong>of</strong> Hopetoun, 92 feet in<br />

height and surmounted by a square capitol <strong>of</strong> 15 feet,<br />

it is hollow and has a spiral staircase to ascend to <strong>the</strong><br />

top, from whence a fine view can be obtained <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Firths <strong>of</strong> Forth and Tay. The parish church is at<br />

Monimail, it is a handsome building and contains<br />

near 600 sittings. There is also a Free Church at<br />

Bow <strong>of</strong> Fife, and a board school in <strong>the</strong> parish.<br />

MOONZIE is <strong>the</strong> smallest parish in <strong>the</strong> county,<br />

being only two miles long by one and a-half broad.<br />

It is situated about three miles west from Cupar and<br />

is bounded on <strong>the</strong> south by Monimail, on <strong>the</strong> north<br />

by Kilmany, on <strong>the</strong> west by Creich, and on <strong>the</strong> east<br />

by Cupar. There is a parish church and school.<br />

to <strong>the</strong> South, 4.5 p.m. ; to <strong>the</strong> <strong>North</strong>, 6.10 p.m. ; to<br />

<strong>the</strong> South, 7.20 p.m. ; to Dundee, 8.50 p.m. Money<br />
